Its cheerful Sidari not Sadari and Ive been loads and never seen Elvis yet, I thought he was dead.

Could everyone keep in mind what the original poster Linzechris asked advise for.

"We are in our early fifties, like to relax, maybe sightsee a little and eat and drink in typically Greek tavernas as well as relax on the beach.

We do NOT like very touristy places with lots of drunk people that have no respect for the local culture.

Also, my husband is awaiting a knee replacement at the moment so struggles with walking too much or very hilly areas if there are no lifts etc."

WE do, its our base town, as we are just up the mountain from it. I'll let Elliemay speak for herself.

We also frequent the North East area a lot, our little boat is moored there.

But you won't find many locals there either....at least you will find them on the beach, but you'd have to go inland to find a cafeneion (for example)

Sidari is flat and also never seen Elvis, well the guy that did Elvis was from Churchills. Now he has gone more is th pitty, loved that place, he was on you tube though.

Davyboy- do you mean the road by the lake or the road through St George's south? If the latter I would still say you would not see a person who actually lived there relaxing, only on the main road at Linia...if the lake- possibly, if either of the tavernas are open which is highly unlikely at the moment sadly!

Even though I live in a fishing village that became a resort I do not like anywhere that is called that, especially if it has been purpose built for tourism- as GJJW says, horses for courses thankfully!

I was beginning to think I was alone until I had friends over last Easter who were amazed by Corfu as they said although they holiday several times a year in various places they had never been to a place where there seemed to be nothing but tourism- and although they were polite I don't think they liked that, although they found the island very beautiful.

Tourists seem to becoming a dirty word in this thread, where would Corfu be without them?
