Which Resort?

Hi, I'm new on here and have been looking to go to Corfu for a holiday with my husband.

1^st off welcome to this site, you should get plenty advice on which resorts would suit your needs.

My own recommendation would be San Stefanos on the North West coast. Beautiful laid back resort with a cracking beach, beautiful sunsets (see my avatar) and the friendliest locals I’ve ever came across. It’s has a nice mix not too busy but not too quiet, the resort is split in two, you have the old part nearer the harbour which is quiet and typically Greek and the newer part which is more busy but not rowdy, plenty restaurants to choose from, most serving home cooked Greek food.

It’s a shame you husband is a currently waiting on knee surgery as there are some beautiful walks around the area but most tend to be hilly but you are rewarded with magnificent views. However, there is plenty accommodation next to the beach which is on the level and should be ok for your husbands needs.

I recommend Roda/Acharavi. My husband and I are in our fifties and love Roda and have been going for 7 years. It is quiet, people of all ages with generations of the same family returning each year. It is very flat with sandy beach. There is lots of accomodation to suit all types and budgets. Plenty of tavernas and bars, some are very British but there is also a good selection of purely Greek. Acharavi is a 20-40 minute walk along the coast road with a wide selection of beachfront tavernas to stop at and enjoy the view.

If you decide on Agios Stefanos or Arillas ask the exact situation of the accommodation and clarify on this forum whether it is on a hill or not as some apartments are on quite steep hills in both resorts.
In Agios Georgios north the bulk of the accommodation units are on the flat.
My wife and I now have arthritis and back problems and cannot walk very much so we ensure we have a good time by just spending a bit more money on our holiday to hire a small car for running around locally.  It enables us to visit lovely places like Afionas, Paleokastritsa and some nearby quiet villages as often as we want. We can still do some of our favourite walks but drive some of the route before leaving the car.
May is a lovely time to visit Corfu because it is so fresh and the wild flowers are still blooming before they die back for the hot summer.

Sidari every time, I tried Roda, San Steph, Kassiopi and several others but now settled once or sometimes twice a year in my beloved Sidari staying with the same family every time.

I like Petreti but know nothing of the available accomodation, however Acharavi has an abundance of small bungalow type villas of varying grades, some virtually on the beach, these are mostly let through small indipendant local tour companys. The whole area is on the flat.May would be nice and quiet everywhere with almost all the businesses up and running with a welcoming smile.
