We will be staying in Corfu for the summer & our accommodation has a satellite dish & Astra box, but no television. As we have a portable television here in the UK, that is sitting in our bedroom, doing nothing, since the digital switch-over, we wondered if it might work over in Corfu with the Astra system?
Any information would be really helpful, as we don`t want to take it all the way over, then find out it won`t work... Thanks...

Provided you only want to watch via the SKY box, it will work fine. Don't forget the scart lead though!

We have took a couple of "Pal" UK sets over to our house and both work fine with sky & local TV.
Both picture & sound are fine. They are not that old so think thats why they worked, I do know that some people have taken a old TV across and have had problems with the sound. Another thing to add is Greece uses "Pal B/G" so if you still have instructions for your TV, you may have info in there. Andy. |

Thankyou for your replies! We only want to use it for the astra box, not Greek TV. We have the scart lead. Looks like thats another item in the car!! Only need the kitchen sink now

Good point Kerkyra, whilst it will not apply to Olympus as he only wants to watch via the Sky box.
Sound will only work on your TV if you have the Pal B/G option. However video recorders are far more forgiving (I don't know why but guess there is some sort of automatic setting), and I have found by tuning the non B/G pal TV via the video I could get TV+sound OK here in Greece
