Help needed, where to stay in Rhodes.
We are looking for apartments not far from a decent beach, but within walking distance of Rhodes Town, please could anyone advise of clean and quiet apartments, not on a large campus. Thanks

You are almost asking the impossible!!
Almost everwhere within walking distance of Rhodes town (at least in hot weather) is very built and there are not really any good beaches near the town However the local bus service is good We usually go to Haraki when we go to Rhodes, lovely quiet village with a lovely beach and brilliant tavernas. There are lots of apartments to choose from, go a search on Google, most are on the beach front or within a 2 minute walk. The buses from Haraki leave from the square by the church |

Hi
We like the Lindos View apartments. They are in Lindos as opposed to Rhodes town but are excellent and close to Lindos town. Lesley

Hi
Thanks for the advice, it gives us a good starting point, Haraki sounds good, but we need to do further research before we decide.

We too like the sound of Haraki. We have never been to Rhodes and Haraki was recommended to us - I can only find apartments there with Olympic Holidays though...does anyone know of anyone else who goes there. We wanted a package ideally as easier with two young children.
Thanks in advance. Cathi. |

Think Olympic are the only ones doing packages to Haraki these days

We are off to Pefkos village resort very near to Lindos, been twice in last 20 years, most other times was Corfu. This side of the island has the best beaches I belive, most others are shingle. Looking fore ward to the change this year although will miss Corfu, will be back next year though Im sure.

As you know a little about the area, do you know anything about the places mentioned below - thanks in advance. x
Emerald Studios in Kremasti, RhodesWe are seriously considering these apartments for this summer, never been to Rhodes before. Have a 7 year old and a 2 year old. The apartments are halfway between Trianda and Kremasti and they're close to the (pebble) beach, with easy access to Kremasti and Rhodes Town - so says the brochure. Any information on the apartments, their location, Kremasti and/or Trianda would be very gratefully received. We know the apartments are on the flight path so no need to comment on that thanks. |

Hi Charlie7, hope this helps Trianta resort is close to the main airport, not sure about nght flight though used to be quite disturbing especially for little ones, but Rhodes is a very lovely island, take a trip to Pentaloudoes {butterfly woods} it is a god place for all ages {advise you check bus return time/or book a cab} but you will have a brilliant time in Rhodes, enjoy

Charlie
Not wanting to put you off but the Kremasti/Trianda area is the area on that coast I would avoid. We had an hour to kill one year before we had to get to the airport and found it hard to find a pleasant spot to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee- mind Ancient Kamiros further along the coast is a not to be missed, ancient site and the castle further along and free, is worth a visit too. That coast towards Rhodes, apart from the airport noise, is very scrappy, no heart, just a continual strip of development. I am sure there must be some good places, we have just never found them LOL I would stick to the other side if I were you, Tsambiki, Stegna, Haraki, Lindos, Pefkos are your best bets, beaches are sandy with fine shingle, the market town of Archangalos (very Greek) is nearby and there are good bus services into Rhodes Town. If you hire a car do visit the interior. Start at Epta Pirgai (lovely taverna by river and a long tunnel you wade through at thigh height which kids would love) then keep going. You will find some wonderful old villages, ornate Italian buildings and a real welcome. And I agree the Butterfly gorge is worth a visit too as long as you are not too late in the season when they have all flown off Hope you find somewhere, it is a lovely island!! |

Thanks for the info but I can't find any package holidays to Tsambiki, Stegna, Haraki, unless we have 2 separate studios for the four of us and, obviously we all want to be in one room. Lindos and Pefkos have between 1 and a half and 2 hour transfer times so, with a 2 year old who has already travelled for many hours to get to Rhodes - this is just not an option at all.
We're thinking Kremasti/Trianda as the transfer is so short. Any further info about which of the two is best would be appreciated. Thanks, Cathi. x |

I stayed in Ixia and Trianda about 20 years ago, Trianda is a little quieter, well was then we stayed at Olympic Palace and The Electra Hotel. Must admit though beaches were pebbly and low flying aircraft thats why opting for the south, much prettier and relaxing. It may say 2 hours but thats because they keep stopping and dropping people off. You could always opt for private transfer.
Hope this helps. Kids are more resilient than you think, mine have travelled since they were 18 months old and youngest is now 15, not sure if it gets easier or harder.
