Hi all we visited Kassiopi in June and we had a fantastic time as we always do. While we were there we went on a trip with Cosmic excursions it was to the highest point on Corfu with a lovely monastery then on to the Sunset Taverna. Well the Sunset Taverna was the highlight of our stay the food was perfect the house wine was so good we had to have more.
Then the view well words cannot describe how beautiful it was the best view we had seen even better than Paleokastritsa.
What I would like to know is has anyone else been there and is there an easier way of getting there rather than going on a trip as all we want is to go for a meal, also we do not drive so what would a taxi cost.
If you have not been then do your self a favour when your next out that way and pay a visit to the greatest view in Corfu.

LOL we have been to the Sunset Taverna, I am assuming you mean the one which overlooks the coast between Acharvi and Kassiopi?
We always go for a coffee to soak up the view and escape the heat of the day What I can tell you is we have never been the same way twice!! But we always manage to find it somehow!! There do seem to be signs for it in the roads above Acharvi but they never seem to help. We have never risked it at night because we always go late in the season and it is dark and finding it in the dark would be a step too far!!! |

Hi this is the brochure description of the excursion we booked through Cosmic Excursions they were very good.
Let us take you to the top! Our mini-coach will take you on a spectacular drive to the very top of Corfu’s highest mountain, Mount Pontakrator, 906m high where you’ll have breathtaking views of the whole Island & coastal villages of Albania, & even mainland Greece. You will also have the chance to look around the 14th Century Monastery with icons, frescoes & works of art. We then take you for a further drive through Corfu’s beautiful countryside to ‘Hliovasilema’ – Sunset Taverna – nestling high in the mountains of the north in a peaceful tranquil setting. Take a stroll through the country lanes with only the butterflies for company. Then you can enjoy a home cooked meal (very good prices) while enjoying the most spectacular sunset in Europe. This is your chance to see the Corfiot way of life as it was before tourism. This has to be experienced to be believed |

We went to a lovely place on the hill top just outside of Kassiopi when we were there a few years ago, thought it was called Panorama (or something like that) but the veiws were to die for.
Visiting again in September, can anyone tell me if this place is still there?

Hello Netty10. The Panorama can be found in this Topic http://www.agnitravel.com/holiday-forum/porta_topic1038_page2.html In particular have a look at MartynG's post.
I plan to visit the Panorama in September. I might well get to the Sunset taverna too. David |

We were at the Panorama on 10 July. Wonderful views. Easy to find, just a short drive out of Kassiopi. We didn't eat (just cool beers on the way home from Aqualand with the kids) but there was a family there who had meals, and we got chatting. Meals looked good!

Gee thanks, Netty10 - now I'm feeling homesick for Porta (our house is just a few hundred yards along the road from the Panorama and the views are VERY similar).

Martyn you lucky thing, I have been looking at my old photo's of Kassiopi and surrounding areas, it's six years since we were last there, and it doesn't seem to have changed any.
Thanks David and D&D for your replies, 8 weeks today and we'll be there

Hi Gary,
Could it have been the Sunset Taverna at San Stefanos? That's in NW Corfu.

It could have been as we could see the islands on the north coast of Corfu.

We went to the Sunset Taverna which is on the NW coast - we drove through Peroulades (a short drive from Sidari) to get to the taverna which is situated on the cliff top overlooking the sea. I think I have some photos of this place but they are on my computer at work (just as well as I've lost a lot from my home computer). I'll have a look tomorrow and will post them if they are still there.
I wonder whether this is the taverna that GaryK is asking about?
Rita

There is a Sunset Taverna directly above Acharavi. Long windy roads up and you pass another taverna on your way up. Worth the drive but miss the nights when trips are there.

Lovely views and superb photos Kiki. From everything I read and see this is definitely located on the North coast near Acharavi. It is somewhat removed from Kassiopi.

Ok, the one above Acharavi has a sleep slope up to it with a high wall on the right hand side with Sunset Taverna written on it
The car park is behind on some scrubby land with trees The taverna itself is large inside with a huge dining area Outside a single line of tables and chairs go round two sides with big white parasols on every table and metal ballastrades From the front you can see an abandoned village and further the down the mountain the sea in the distance Hope that helps to tell which one you were at - oh and the owner speaks very little English, if you want hot coffee with milk you have to ask for it in Greek otherwise you get it cold!!! Lovely place though The one on the NW cost is set on various levels with wooden decking. There are some viewing balconies built right out over the sea . It is not up a mountain, rather at the top of the high cliffs Equally lovely but quite a drive at night from Kassiopi |

Are you not talking about the monolithi susieh? The owner of sunset speaks great English and only has tables on the left side next to railings I believe, the monolithi is just below the sunset taverna.
