Yes Nigel. It's the plot which is currently owned by the Greek navy to 'keep an eye on Albania' between San Stef (east) and Avlaki. Dont think they will have much success in selling it though as there is so much land for sale already.

Graham, Is that where there is a radar and look out building up on top of the cliff?

Wish I had the money to just keep it as it is. We always call over to see the horses. |

That is really worrying. Especially the suggested uses for the land. It is a fairly remote area of natural beauty and whilst Greece has got to raise income and you wouldn't want to deny the citizens of Corfu potential business opportunities, placing a large residential/tourist complex in that area would mean that the many thousands of euros brought in by the generally wealthy tourists to that area would be likely to go elsewhere. This area of Corfu has already changed markedly ove the past 10 years, and it doesn't need more development. Killing the goose that lays the golden egg?

Bruce, If you enter the web site on KINNINVIEKIDS post, there is a smallgallery of photos, one of which gives an outline of the plot. You can identify locations from San Stephanos Bay at the bottom and Avlaki Bay at the top. Also the shallow reef just off the coast is easy to see.

I really hope that they dont destroy the really unique beauty of this area by simply concentrating on tourism and job creation. And that if they are going to promote tourism that they do it in a way that works with what already exists and overall acts in a positive way to preserve any unspoilt areas. If the natural landscape is spoilt it will never be returned to it's current state.
There is a massive opportunity to do something wonderful that adds rather than detracts to the area but I am really concerned that the traditional "graft" process (as per recent articles in ekathemerini) will just carry on as before and any planning constraints or limitations will be thrown out of the window because any new owner/s will be weathy and thus powerful.
I also thought that some areas of this peninsula had protected status from a world heritage perspective because of the salt lakes. Does anyone know any more about that aspect of it?
