Set within an enchanting olive grove, overlooking the beautiful bay of Agni, the Agni Olive Press occupies the top part of a former agricultural building. Now a unique villa, it was transformed by the sure touch of its owner, Giuseppe, into a romantic and utterly delightful hideaway. It must be one of the most bewitching houses in Corfu, full of character, chic, a skilful blend of old and new. Many features of the old olive press have been incorporated into the house - vaulted brick and stone walls and openings, millstones put to use as tables. A broad paved terrace catches the sun for much of the day and looks down over the olive trees to the sea and the mainland opposite. Below the Olive Press, and quite separate, is Giuseppe's Retreat where Giuseppe himself used to spend his summers.
The kitchen area is amazing - unconventional perhaps in its artistic and amusing clutter of hats and baskets, but nevertheless well-equipped. It houses all modern appliances including a dishwasher and oven (microwave/grill/conventional oven). Washing MachineThere is a washing machine in an outside storeroom.
The three bedrooms (all air-conditioned) are reached via an open wooden staircase which has been constructed using part of the old press.
1st TwinAt the top of the first flight of stairs and at the front of the house is a twin-bedded room, simply furnished to set off the handsome stone walls. Two windows overlook wonderful views over Agni Bay.
2nd TwinNext door is a smaller twin-bedded room with French doors leading to a small veranda to the rear of the house.
Master BedroomThe master bedroom is reached via another short flight of stairs and used to be the loft of the olive press. This gorgeous room has a large double bed facing the full-width patio doors which open onto a private balcony. What a view to wake up to! In fact it will be tempting to lie in bed all day and enjoy it. Uninterrupted privacy is ensured by a unique loft 'door' that is operated by the use of a weight. A large ceiling fan will keep you cool at night. Whilst none of the bedrooms have wardrobes as such, there is plenty of hanging space and shelves for clothing.
House BathroomThis fully modernised bathroom houses a corner bath with shower over, wash basin with vanity unit, wc and bidet.
Master Bedroom En SuiteTo the corner of the master bedroom are three steps which lead to the en suite bathroom, which is then situated down a few more steps. Here you will find a fully modernised bathroom with full sized bath and shower over, wash basin with vanity unit, wc and bidet
Because many of the old parts of the olive press have been used in the construction of the house (in particular the staircase), we would not recommend this property for the elderly or families with small children. Large PartiesLarger parties of six or more might like to consider booking Giuseppe's Retreat which is in the lower part of the building, to make this an ideal holiday house for ten persons.

Google MapAgni BayAgni Bay is home to Taverna Agni and Agni Travel. In Greek Agni means un-spoilt and this describes Agni perfectly - just three Tavernas (each with their own jetty for mooring up to) and a sprinkle of local buildings. The bay is reached mainly by rented motor boats, although recently there is now a narrow road down into the bay: Agni Corfu Agni Travel Property Map - Corfu The above Agni Travel map (click to download), shows the location of the Olive Press, which is above Agni Bay.
KalamiThe bay of Kalami nestles below the hills of the North East Corfu and is famous for both its beautiful beach, and Lawrence Durrell's 'White House'. A popular destination for couples, Kalami is also ideal for a family holiday with tavernas, safe swimming, water sports and boat hire - everyone is catered for! Kalami Corfu Krouzeri CorfuKrouzeri has a long beach (pebble and sand) offering safe swimming, water sports and diving. Beachside tavernas provide welcome refreshments to those enjoying the beach and excellent snorkelling. The nearby Nissaki Beach Hotel offers a swimming pool which is open to non-residents, a restaurant and bar and, during the evening a low-key disco. There is a jetty/collection point for the Taverna Agni water taxi which offers an evening service to Taverna Agni and a twice-weekly trip to Corfu Town (a small charge is payable to help with the running costs). Kaminaki CorfuCorfu's north-east coastline is spectacularly beautiful, but has remained uniquely unspoilt in spite of its celebrity-status. Kaminaki is one of the small and enchanting bays that stud this coastline like jewels on a necklace. Still only a hamlet, with village houses occupied by their original local inhabitants, it has a mixture of modern and converted accommodation, two unpretentious tavernas (and others within easy reach), and water of Caribbean colours that laps against a gently shelving beach of pure white pebbles. One small shop and a complete absence of noisy evening entertainment are other virtues - evenings end here with a quiet drink overlooking the sea, conversation with new or old friends, and perhaps a skinny dip to round things off! Kaminaki has its following of faithful visitors who return each year, and it is not hard to see that anyone could soon become addicted to this very special combination of exquisite scenery, perfect bathing, water sports suitable for kids and adults, and sheer, undemanding relaxation in a friendly atmosphere. Hire a boat and explore the lovely bays along the coast, or stay put and unwind - Kaminaki makes it all possible. Kaminaki Corfu ![]() |
