We are both power kite / traction kite  flyers and were hoping to take a couple of kites with us on holiday to Sidari when we go in October.

Could anyone tell us if there is a beach near to Sidari that would be suitable for kite flying?

Is there usually a good wind in the early morning when the beach would hopefully be at it emptiest?

Hi Gran & Mig,

There has been a thread on power kite flying in corfu but i cannot get the thread, it seems to have disappeared

The Canal D'Amour beach will be fine to kite fly if you go in early morning, im not sure of a good wind though, maybe october time will have a bit of wind, i always go in july and there is never a morning wind.

I think a lot of people fly kites at Almiros beach.  However, as it is the other side of Acharavi you will need transport to get there.

The sea at Almiros is edged with flat slippery rocks along the water line.

Also inland just above the beach are power lines, in fact many places a criss/crossed with power or phone lines all over the island.

You would need to keep a sharp eye out.

The kites that are flown at Easter on almiros are just amateur types so dont pose the problems you might have.

Unless a storm is about, the prevailing wind is in the afternoon from the sea.

Bob.
