OK let's do a head count. Who's been back home only a couple of weeks and is itching to get back to AG already? Which is your favourite month for visiting?
I'm putting two hands up - one for me and one for Mal! I live in hope of cheap flights coming online with Easyjet soon (poss December)for July/August.

Will do my best! After our experiences of the diabolical services of Thomas Cook to and from Zakynthos recently we certain won't be using them!! (Another story for another time!). I would rather walk to Corfu than use them!
Come on Easyjet!

Keeping my fingers crossed Viv. I am impressed. I don't think Mal and I make the most of our greenhouse. Maybe it's time for a rethink.
If you are the first visitors Viv, can you order the milk and papers for us all?!

Congrats of your forthcoming 40th Maggy, with everything that you've had to sort out these past weeks I'm not surprised you mixed up your dates - have an extended holiday - you deserve it!

Not me - Sea Breeze fully booked for our dates in August, so off to Arillas instead. Amazingly, the prize for a package with TC was too good to be true for this one. However, may call in to see AG "asleep" when we visit in April. The hotel and Pink Palace are open in April though, so there may be some life around.

No plans at the mo, have to see how looking for a new job go - last visit 3 weeks ago spoilt a bit by the redundancy looming over me! But, if there is the slightest glimmer, we'll be there!

Clare A - that's interesting. The locals thought it very odd when I asked if AG was "open" in April. Why do you want to visit Corfu in April they ask? I started to question my wisdom on hastily booking those EJ flights! Perhaps more places are opening now they know EJ are flying in, in April. Have been to Crete in April and it was lovely. Nice and quiet, and better weather than in England!

Hi Sharon I was there for the greek easter and I wasn't sure whether this was the reason Ark and Alobar were open? It was mainly greek people in them. You're right about the weather - much better than England - and the roads were nice and quiet (except around corfu town which was very busy!!). Are you going for Easter?

We have stayed at Stevens in Agios two years in a row now but decided last year to try something different. Had a nice holiday in Majorca but we still missed Stevens. The only reason we went somewhere else was because of the mozzies and wasps.
I got bitten badly by mozzies and in fact that put us off going again. A friend told us of Autan which you can buy and I did buy some towards the end of the holiday. Could someone please confirm that using Autan would definately work as we would both love to visit Agios again this year. What are the mozzies like in June? Thinking of visiting then as hopefully the wasps won't be so bad.
Alternatively, are there any parts of Corfu which are mozzie-free?
Many thanks and happy New Year to everyone.

Hi September,
Wasps in my opinion are only a problem is September and early October in Corfu, there are some around but not a nuisance.
Any mosquito repellent is better than none, you must use it everyday and try and protect the whole of your body with it.
Some folk swear by Avon Skin So Soft dry oil body lotion,Autan, lighting Greek Coffee, the smoke is supposed to repel the wasps and Mosquitoes, vitamin B plus tablets before your holiday and while your there,Marmite eaten of course are just a few ways to repel the darlings.
June isn't too bad for them, remember not to sit near stagnant water, foliage of a night and try and wear loose fitting clothing in the form of long sleeved tops and pants, that way you may be able to avoid being bitten too badly.
I assumed I am always bitten by a Mosquito until I discovered sand fleas and horse flies also give me a nasty nip, hence a visit to the local pharmacy.

I always take Avon skin so soft with me anyway, plus we have the insect repellant plug ins. I also spray myself every night before I go out. They still seem to get me though.
Nearly every year, mainly after I have come back from being abroad, I get a very nasty dose of the flu. I feel very ill for several weeks and am in bed the whole time. In 2008, after coming back from Agios, I got the flu badly again and this developed into pneumonia. I was in hospital for a while too. The dr did ask if I had been abroad recently and got bitten. I wondered if my mozzie bites had got infected and maybe caused me to be so ill. However, when I recovered and saw my dr again, she seemed to think that being on a plane for several hours and the air not circulating, was the cause of my flu and pneumonia.
We both love Agios and would like to return. Would just like the mozzies to keep away.

I'm afraid the mossies are not going to leave in a hurry!
They are very partial to me but I've found a combination of Boots own suntan lotion and aftersun with mosquito repellant in the daytime, boots tropical mosquito repellant (the one in the silver/grey packaging) at night and a plug in in the room seem to keep them at bay.
I also take a daily anti histamine so if a really brave one gets through I don't react as badly!!

The only other advice I can give you September,is before leaving your room, close all windows especially the bathroom window and spray your room before leaving it and again on your return before going to bed.
Don't leave lights on at night, use plug ins and leave perfume and after shave at home.
Apply repellent every few hours during the day and especially if dining out of an evening.
Spirals can be purchased from the shops, light them and place them on the floor by your feet before dusk.
I suspect there are different 'brands' of Mosquitoes with worse side effects than others,or some are not mature enough to drink your blood, but just learning the technique for when they are of breeding age!
If your concerned about a bite, head for the nearest chemist who will gladly advise you,I wouldn't bother buying the Bite Sticks that are available,as they've never had any impact on my bites, the Chemist is best in my opinion!
Good Luck in your quest

Have been early June and mid September and had lovely temperatures - I don't like it sizzling! Both have their pros and cons - too many children for our liking in June (been there, done that and would like some peace as we get older, it's nothing to do with being anti-children), September - lots of wasps but the sea was so warm, like bathwater! The taverna owners light Greek coffee to keep the wasps away and you have to take precautions in your apartment too. Got fed up with husband constantly wafting them away. Last September, the temperature was lovely, just right. But let's face it, you are going to get mozzies any time really in the season.
