Kefalonia

Hi, the fires have been devastating. It's the worst i have seen by far in the years i have been visiting the island.

The islanders as usual are showing their resiliance and coming through. If you take a look at this link, there are a lot of photographs showing the scale of the devastation. One thing though...................after a slight blip, everything is back to normal. There is still a lot of greenery on the island, but the islanders need us now, more than ever.

You will still enjoy Kefalonia, have no fears

Thanks for the info,John. I dont know if Im glad you told me or not.

Anyway we have seven weeks yet befrore we go ,so things should have settled down a little by then.

I recall last year we were in Kalami just after the fire there. Whilst the area had been badly scarred by the fire, the people were still upbeat, and our stay was as ever perfect.

we just hope we are able to go to Kefelonia and indeed Skala,we are so looking forward to our visit.

Your right we need to support the people in particular the ones who depend on visitors.

Bye for now

Kefalonia

I must be going through the same range of emotions as you! I am going to Skiathos on 21st SEptember and that island too has been devastated by fires. No more tha 1/2 mile from where i am staying. I walked through all the areas that were destroyed on my holiday last year and it is devastating to see them burnt out.

It will not put me off going back though and i am looking forward to my stay there. I feel the same about Kefalonia too. Although i am really upset at what has happened,i will be back again next June for my 10th visit!

Enjoy! John
