Hiya, as some of you know, we will be moving to Corfu shortly. Question I have is does anyone think it is worth taking our tumble dryer for the winter months or not, does anyone think it would come in handy in the winter due to the dampness?

Hi Darren we moved ours out last year and I only used it twice over the winter. There are more dry days than wet and when its dry its usually quite mild and windy so things still dry well on the line, not like uk when it can sit damp on the line for a week. If we got a sudden shower I just moved the washing onto the verandah on the fold up dryer, so no wouldn't bother if I were you

I would certainly bring it if you have one. Remember that this winter was very dry compared to other years. Last winter it rained at sometime every day for 7 weeks. This winter was so much better with the dampness thats normally around in the winter not being in evidence at all.

I shall be taking mine Darren as I well remember a wet 2 weeks in May and nowhere to dry the bedding, its not too bad with clothing but sheets are a different matter.

I am still trying to save for a tumble dryer, it would make my life a lot easier in the winter. Winters are normally a lot wetter than previous years, and my washing always takes forever to dry and because of the length of time it can smell!! My advice, if you normally do a lot of washing, bring it!!!

Just spotted a plan. If Rosy dosn't use her drier and SLD who only lives about 100 meters away wants one why dosn't Rosy give hers to SLD who really wants one. This way everyone will be a winner.

There's enough nice days to get the washing dry...........with a little help from the radiators!!
I have a washer/dryer, and have never used the dryer over here. If the weather's bad, I just don't do the washing - simple as that, and when it brightens up, I'll do 2 or 3 loads at a time!! We seem to cope!!

Graham sounds like a plan to me!! Orchard, I wish I could get away with not doing the washing, but my fiance goes through clothes like no tomorrow and gets them in a right state due to his job (sighs)

We need clothes for working during the hot days, and another change of 'smarter' clothing in the evening for work.
Add this to a young child who is constantly filthy, and a teenager who likes to change her clothes every 5 minutes..........and I assure you that I have literally tons of washing!!
I just cannot be bothered to do it if the weather looks dodgy............I'd rather wait until a sunny day, and do it all at once!! Having said that, on average I do a load per day, and the weather is good enough to dry it......if it gets 'left' for a couple of days I can do up to 4 loads in a day.
Don't even get me started on the ironing!!!

i'm with Orchard - got to remember global warming and our carbon footprint - and if we choose to use a tumble drier on Corfu then i guess that will hasten the day when it will be too hot to live here...

dont get me started on the global warming issue, our govn. is trying to scare us all, but global warming is a natural state, every couple of billion,(sorry maybe million)years the earths magnetic pole goes in to a flux and changes polarities, meaning north magnetic become south , this has been proven in magnatite rock, while in this change the magnetic field that protects the earth is very weak and so lets more radiation from the sun through, hence warming, we are currently at the start of this change! if you dont believe me ask Mr spock, he will explain all.

it hardly matters why its happening - it is, and faster than ever known before - the question is, do we try to do something to slow it down, or just blithely continue to make it worse....

The pole shift will happen in its own time - whether we help it or not - the question is, do we contribute to pollution and warming faster or slower? This is a whole 'nother matter. It's all connected though. This wonderous planet of ours is destined to self-destruct (as we know it) and cleanse itself, then start over - (as it has many times before) and we'll all meet next time around... This has happened before as Dazzy73 has said. We just don't remember it. That's how the Universe functions...... if you can't find Dr. Spock, ask Stephen Hawkins.
Ride hard, shoot straight and happy trails..... Love and light, Carin
