The decorations and lights are definitely much less locally than in previous years. The shops in Athens only started their Christmas opening hours on the 15th.
For the first time I felt slightly uncomfortable putting lights outside as there is an air of depression around.
Hopefully it's more jovial nearer town.

I live in a little hamlet above Kalami, and I have fairy lights around the roof covering my veranda which can be seen driving home from Kassiopi area, which is lovely for me, like a beacon, but my neighbour at the bottom of the hill has lights all over the outside of the house, and in the tree next to it. I am not usually a fan of so many lights on a house, but they are all white, with the exception of one red decoration and one green one, and they do look lovely, gorgeous to see on the road there.
I would upload a picture, but for some reason as yet unexplained, I can't!!! Sorry.
