I have at last received all the legal paper concerning land that I have purchased but in Greek.

Does anyone know of someone that would / could translate these for me?

If so, how much?

I could fax them over or scan & email.

there are about 15 pages.

Cheers all.

Dextercat - I am interested to see if someone could help as I will be looking for the same, I would like it because I am nosey rather than anything else, I think it may be important that someone knows the purpose  for the translation, ie Legal and 100% or just a reasonable stab as it were, I just want a better stab than I can do!!

There are professional translators in Corfu town, that will translate & 'rubber stamp' a legal document.

I'm sorry that I don't have any names to give you - it was a long time ago when I had my birth/marriage certificates etc done.  But the service definitely exists.

If you have bought property in Corfu you will have a solicitor. If you buy property in the UK you would ask your solicitor to tell you what the contract means and translate any legal jargen. The same would apply in Greece, ask you solicitor in Greece to translate. He/She has a legal obligation to give you accurate information.

Yes Graham and we did that with Arthuros, and exceptional he was too...But it's done in verbal form and It would be nice to have a piece of paper that says it all out, ours was "this bit of boundry... adjoining spiros xxxx land" and so forth, enough to sign up but out of your brain two seconds later!! Maybe that's what dextercat is looking for?

PS looks like a warm night from the temp cam...

I was going to suggest that Dextercat gets their solicitor to obtain a translation for them - like JeremyS said, our mutual solicitor was able to ensure that we understood exactly what we were signing!

Remember, that is what you are paying them for...

According to the Greek law, every solicitor has the right to obtain official translations...if he speaks the language of course...

If Dextercat or anyone else wants legal docs translated from Greek to English, I would be happy to help. I have plenty of experience in this, but I can only do it on an unofficial basis, i.e. to provide you with a translation so that you understand what is going on. I am not able to stamp the translation for use in court etc.

If you would like me to help, pls let me know.
