We don't think that we have paid over all of the IKA that we owe to get our electricity connected and we are experiencing problems finding out how much more we owe.

Am I right in thinking that the number of days due is set at the start of the build but the rate due  determined when the Ika it gets paid over ?

Have you tried going to the IKA offices in Corfu town - they should be able to help.
Good luck.

Hi Wilkie, we pay Eka regularly our engineer tells us when we owe some, it seems to be worked out on each stage of the build, also it depends on how many workers we have. We have just applied for electric and we have to have enough receipts for the work that has been done, which we seem to have in  lorry loads of concrete and 17 tons of steel.

Hope this helps is yours a new house?

We are at the same stage , we now know how many IKA days are left to pay and have just had  our electric approval on our permit so need to get all our receipts together and yes we have load and loads of concrete delivery notes aswell !

It seems quite  painful this part of the building process and we thought we on the home straight at last .

I think and hope thats its the full electric but will find out

Our process started last  October when we went to the tax building , we showed our passports and signed a form( sounds very naive doesn't it !) . We have had a long wait for the inspection , we paid some taxes for it in December and they went out this week .

We will experience another delay now because we aren't out again until May when we were going to complete 2005 and 2006 tax returns and I believe we need these submitted before  we can apply for the connection. We also need an electrical design for the application.  Then I guess its another long wait  .

Do you have any idea how much your connection will cost?

Hi Wilkie seems like a long wait up to now, we are not sure how much the connection charge is going to be as we are not sure where they are going to take it from, luckily our dutch neighbour moved in his 18 months ago so he brought the columns up from the road, but we may still need a couple more. The engineer has to show the building license and the plans and the receipts, the electrician has already done the basics we just need a concrete post and metre then we can hae it wired. If I get a price or things start moing will let you know. We are hoping the engineer and my friend who has power of attorny can sort it out. Chistos does not think there will be a problem if they need one of us in person we will have to wait till may. Wil keep you posted. I am not sure but 800-1000 euros is stuck in my mind for costs

H Wilkie a bit of movement this week, spoke to the engineer and project manager, Wolfgang, Everyone is due back on site Tuesday to finish the internal wiring and put a concrete post up at the gate for the metre.

A trench is to be dug for the cable to the house and we think we only need to pay for one post, however I am not to sure whether or not we need to pay half of the other poles that have had to be put in for our Dutch neighbour.

Pictures are ready to go in so hopefully should be done in 7 weeks. I am not holding my breath though.

At least we have had some feedback!

Thats good news for you, if things keep moving slowly but surely you'll get there.

I think we are on hold for us really until May when we go over again( I am counting the days already )
