Hi Intermalc,

All depends if you have use of a car ,we had a wonderful 2 weeks in may, one of the highlights was a trip to old perithia in the mountains ,it is shown on the maps try the one stephan does ,(details on ctg ).Although now got nice tavernas there and a couple of gift shops it gives you insight in to how some of the greeks lived years ago wander round there old houses it is a bit eeire,,the veiws on the way up are spectacular ,do this trip soon a lot of the houses were being done up to sell to rich folk so will soon lose its charm, could not believe how many churches in such a small place ,must have 1 for everyday of the week .Also any trip over the mountains, end up at a little village they make you so welcome, we sat outside 1 tiny cafe drinking ginger beer nothing like ours ,Ahh heaven i was back there then ,i also like corfu town but it is so easy to get dragged into the shops in my opinion a total waste of a good day of my hols Hope this helps depends what you want out of a day out .Us when in corfu try to do what corfoits do, the whole greek thing eat well relax and enjoy life,

lol Annxx

A visit to the summit of Pandokrator is a must. Wonderful views. In May we could easily see the snow on the Albanian mountains. Make sure you have binoculars. If you have a 4 wheeldrive take the track starting just below the summit. More great views and peace and quiet. Just keep heading downwards and you cannot get lost.

Best regards

Andy

We have been to Corfu very often and always hired a car. One of the most beautiful areas is around Arillas and Afionas, very nice view to Agios Georgios Pagon beach from Afionas.

I would go on a boat trip to Ericousa - a small island just off Corfu. When you arrive there is only one cafe, 1 hotel with resturant and 1 small tourist shop! Nothing to spend money on!!!! Just enjoy the view, swim, sunbathe, sleep and walk just chill, relax and enjoy the day.

We got to Afionas for the first time earlier this year and I have to agree with Kira.  The views from Afionas are amazing and there are a couple of Tavernas well placed to make the most of them.

If you have not already been I would suggest a drive up through Pelekas to Kaiser's throne.  The extensive views took my breath away.  Next time we are going to explore Pelekas itself.

The other place we want to go back to is Perama.  We stopped for a coffee at the Pontikinissi Cafe there and were rewarded with the most beautiful view of Pontikinissi and the Albanian coast across the sea.  It's also on the flight path and lots of planes were coming in whilst we were there.

I know this message is all about views but they are all different and all worth seeing.

go to pelekas for lunch at Alexandros Taverna(the chicken in the oven is divine and so is the house white wine) ,then walk up to the levant hotel to the kaisers throne and look at the beautiful view in all directions.

Have a drink in the hotel-its lovely and serene, then walk back down into the village.

From Pelekas, walk or drive down the Vatos road and after about 3-4km reach another little village with just a taverna at the base of the hill-more refreshments and perhaps a country walk.

the scenery inland is just beautiful in this area and if you like you can go to mirtiotissa beach or ermones is nearby

this is what i will be doing one day in sept
