Sitting under the arches of the Liston with a cold beer and giggling together at the hot & bothered cruise passengers being herded around, with their video cameras glued to their faces

A romantic trip springs to mind rather than one place. We took an evening boat ride to Corfu town from Kalami and coming back in the dark was just magic, the lights of the villages twinkling in the hill and the stars....Wow. I will never forget it.

Dinner up in Old Perithia (then the white knuckle taxi ride back down at the end of the evening)

We planned dinner up at Old Perithia a few years ago.  We'd gone in the day time a few days before and thought it was charming.  We found out there was a bit of a party with dancing etc. going on the next Saturday night and booked a table.

We were a bit nervous about the drive back down to the main road in the dark but the owner said he'd drive down ahead of us to light the way, which was just typically thoughtful of the locals.  That evening we had a terrible thunder storm and decided not to go because we felt more nervous of the roads being wet.

We've planned to go back every since and haven't.  Reading your post, Trace, about the "white knuckle ride" I'm not sure we ever will, now!! LOL !!

Walking along the beach late at night not a sound but the waves on the seashore. Missing it already

Sitting peacefully on my balcony as the sun rises with a warm breeze and a 180 degree sea view, planes circling without a sound and ships all lit up in the distance. A good brandy to hand  and there's no where on earth I'd rather be.

I agree with Ali P

where ever my hubby is,is my romantic place.

Makes it even better if he is in Kassiopi (because I am there with him)

Last year was our first visit to Corfu. We spent it in Kalami. We were on honeymoon (second marriages for both of us), so EVERY moment was romantic...!

The time that sticks in my memory most of all though, is sitting on a beach table (actually ON the beach!) at Kalami Beach Taverna, having just finished a delicious meal, savouring Metaxa and Limoncino liqueurs..... listening to the lapping of the ripples and watching the reflection of the moon (our honey MOON!) on the water between Corfu and Albania.....  Even the karaoke from Cocktails and Dreams added to the ambience!!

Ahhh Geoff I've gone over all gooey. My lovely hubby, also Geoff, and I could even have passed you as we strolled back along the boardwalk after an evening at Agni. This is pure romantic conjecture of course since we have no idea when you were there. Ours is a second marriage too and all the better for it.   Yammas Polly

Polly, we were there in early August. Let's think, we got married in Scotland on the first, which was a saturday.... we arrived in Kalami the following friday, which must have been the seventh I guess....? Somthing like that. How come I can remember all the details of sitting on the beach, but not WHEN it was?!

Never having been lucky enough to be with a husband or lover while in Corfu, I would have to say the most (potentially) romantic place was the deck of The Golden Fox, in Lakones, up above Paleokastritsa, in the late afternoon, where I was able to see all of the beautiful coves of Paleokastritsa.  The Golden Fox played beautiful Greek music.  Ahh... I felt like I was in a movie!

Don't worry too much, actually it was great fun (just let your dinner go down a little before you set off ).

I think the taxi driver just knew the road very well and was able to driver much faster than we would ourselves.

Was well worth it though

We couldn't have passed you then Geoff because we were there in early June. I guess the reason you can't remember the dates precisely is because you were too much in lurve and still are I trust.  So,we are both going to Kalami for the 2nd time this summer and I seem to remember from earlier threads that yours is coming up very  soon. Ours not too distant either,2nd June in fact.  Yammas Polly

Hi Polly

We leave Kalami on the day you arrive.   The charming creature is my son Luke, who is 8 now, in Carri's gas mask. She used to be a captain in the RLC in the TA, in case you were wondering why she might be in possession of a gas respirator!!

Romantic moments in Corfu, let me see....

A wonderful road trip we took from London to Corfu with two kids and a boat

Marathon man tenderly asking me to retrieve our boat from its sweet location ( wedged firmly under an Italian bridge)

Gently fanning the flames of our trailer brakes with buckets of kiddies wee

Listening to the gentle, happy munching of the greek goats as they lovingly ate our return map

Listening to the wild roar of the wind, as our boat sat invitingly on the vila drive... day after day after day

Listening to the gentle pitter patter of water as it streamed down behind Marathon mans head in our romantic stop over in an Italian motorway motel

Lovingly watching the beard grow on Marathon mans face as he drives and drives and drives and drives and drives

Tenderly vowing to do it all again AND MEANING IT

Ah yes.... we have had more than our fair share of romantic Corfu moments.....

Hi All,

Most romantic place has to be a quiet dinner  with the wife at Kostos on the Beach in arillas, then sitting outside watching the sun go down.

Absolutely brilliant, and even better if the kids are behaving themselves!!

Four days to go and we`ll be there,

                         Regards,

                                Sham
