the pages are the one with her photo on.and the back cover of the passport.

i have glued them back to the rest of the passport but do you think i need a new one with only 35 days to go our do you think they would still let her fly.

Hi ya ...yes you will the passport is not to be damage in any way.I would rather be safe than sorry as if you arrive at the airport...It may look like they have been tampered with(no 6 in your passport).and with 35 days to go i am sure they would be back in time if you explained that you are travailing soon...chris

Take a look at the UK Passport website at

http://www.ukpa.gov.uk/index.asp

You will find all info on renewing the passport, and you can use the application forms online. Anytime remaining on your original passport will be added to the new one.

Hi Sue,

For travel to most countries, a British passport must remain valid for at least 6 months after your scheduled return to the UK.

I did travel a couple of years ago with less than 6 months left on my passport but at the time was totally unaware of the rules - luckily no-one stopped me or said anything at all - but its better to be safe than sorry

Surely something this important can't be answered properly by a message board?  I would advise getting information from a proper official source.

Seabird,

As you can see, Sailor in his posting above, has provided the link to the United Kingdom Passport Agency for matsui to visit and find out more. Their online enquiry service is very fast and efficient, and he will be able to find the official reply on there.

Hi Matsui,

If you look at the UK Passport Agency link above, you can renew your passport now, and the months you have remaining on your present passport will be added to the new one. I think the limit is upto 9 months, but the link will clarify this. The application forms are on line.

Hi there all, sorry been so long in posting my thanks, but for some reason my post would not go through earlier.

Thank you to Trace,Seaangler and Sailor for your information,I have now renewed my passport online!!

To Judie and Hazel, thanks for your comments.

To Seabird53,I had previously tried to contact the Greece Embassy website for information, before i posted, unfortunately it was being updated, and could not give me any feedback! I haven't been a member on this site for very long, but the help and advice and most of all the friendship I have received from here has been inval

Just imagine,If I had got to the airport, and they said I couldn't go to Corfu!!!All because my passport is nearly 10 years old !!

Doesn't bear thinking about!!

Byee!

Sue x

Hi

I've just returned from Corfu and was really worried at first as ..we travelled out on the 4th July from east midlands..came back on the 18th July and my passport runs out on the 31st July....what i did was phone the Greek embassy up and they informed me that as long as the passport was valid on the days of travel there should be no problem...the only one to mention it was when checking in at East Midlands, the girl on the desk asked if i was aware that it expired soon.....must remember to renew it !!!!!

Dawn

Dawn, it's advisable to have a good window of validity on your passport when travelling, as you never know what will happen.

You may end up being unable to travel back on your planned date, perhaps for medical reasons, and then your passport wouldn't be valid for travel when you were then able to fly home.

It's like having insurance......better safe than sorry!

I have actually heard that you can travel back from your destination even if ur passport is out of date I may be wrong though, well i dont actually think it applies any more but when i was due to fly to America my sister noticed i only had 2 months left on my passport she thought i would need six months as they had been told the year before. She was right and it was a trip to peterbourugh (i cant spell it!!) 2 days before i went away.

The passport office did tell me though that before 9/11 you could travel with 1 day on your passport as long as it was valid flying out! Not sure if i got confused but im sure thats what they said! Obviously it DOSENT apply anymore but i thought id fill you in with that useless bit of info!
