Darren that is very kind of you.  Please someone help this man! (GTA maybe?).

I would attempt it but can't manage to get left and right the correct way round, even when I try really hard - you could end up anywhere!

Best wishes,

Julia

if you go to" http://www.viamichelin.fr/viamichelin/fra/tpl/hme/MaHomePage.htm you can tap in your departure and destination and it will come up with all the permutations from the quickest to the cheapest, giving maps and toll prices(it's in french but it's straight forward enough)

You would have to do the UK section in one part and the Europe section in a separate part - but I think they could help. Worth a try if all else fails.

 Hi Darren

I have driven to Corfu the last two years and its not the cheapest way to do

it but it does give you more fexibiliy once you arrive in Corfu its great to

be able to drive anywhere on the Island.

As I said Ive done it twice thinking about again this year probably

the same as the last two years end of may the same as you.

If your planning on staying for a while this is the best time to go

as if you can get rooms on a monthly basis is a lot cheaper.

The first time I drove from Dover to Calais last time I did Dover Bologne

this route with speedferries was alot cheaper.

The most direct and fastest routes are the motorways but these are all toll

roads. I drove through France down to Switzerland then through Italy

down from milan to venice again a tollroad.

Venice to Corfu with Minoan Ferries 24hour crossing`.

Usually leaves Venice at 2PM and arrives in Corfu around the same time

 the follwing day.

The ferries can be booked on the net you get booking conformations

and pick your tickets up at the ports

ON the Minoan ferry you have a choice of deck ats or cabin

Deck just that the ats is aircraft type seats these seats you can push back as you would in an aircraftfor for sleeping on are in large rooms which have a tv and showers ar just down a passage from these.

You can get a discount on the ferry fare if you belong to a motoring organisation aa /rac ect.

You can avoid the tollroads which will take longer but save you money

I took the tollroads as I had pre booked my ferry and wanted to make sure

 I got there on time.

I have satnav and would make more use of it this time it does make it very

 easy.

Petrol is not that much cheaper in france and italy but very cheap on Corfu.

I drive a Vectra V6 so petrol was my biggest expence as I was driving on

on my own as your sharing this will make it cheaper and easyier on the

driving.

HiDarren, The route we take is Norfolk Line ferry dover-dunquerke (can cost as little as 14 gbp).Coming out of dunquerke we head towards Brussels on the motorway, then towards Liege and then towards Cologne (Koln) in Germany. We then go Koblenz,Frankfurt,Mannheim,Stuttgart,Augsburg,Munich,Rossenheim. We then head south on the A93 to junction 59 and come off and head for a small Austrian picture postcard village called Walchsee for an overnight stop (62€ B&B for 2)We then head for Kitzbuhl,Leinz,Cortina,Belluno and then to Venice. Then ferry to Corfu. Tolls are the Italian motorway section (4.90€) and the Felber-Tauern tunnel (10€).We try to catch the Dover ferry on sunday night and the we can reach venice to catch the Anek ferry out of Venice on tuesday evening arriving in Corfu late Wednesday night.Hope this helps you.Best of luck. I looked at the cost of the ferry from Hull to Rotterdam for 4 passengers and the car and it was way too much even then knocking on £400 return. It's currently £569 both ways compared to driving 280 miles (at) 17p/mile to Dover and  £52 return ferry to Dunkirque so £147 total return cost. I favoured the Belgium/Germany/Austria/Italy route because we're not pushed for time and  pay less in tolls also personally I am not fond of driving through  France having read many accounts of the how French Police can be a little difficult with the Brits. eg http://www.thisistravel.co.uk/travel/news/Banned-for-speeding-inFrance-article.html?in_article_id=38828 We will be covering the 172 miles Dunkirque to Liege,Belgium  in the early hours of Saturday morning 19th May.The ferry docks at 4.00am so hopefully we can miss a lot of the traffic. We'll buy some supplies on the way to Liege for onboard scoffing the following day but Saturday afternoon it'll be heads down for a good  kip after 500miles and 2 hours on the ferry. I expect to be up and off around midnight to make our way out of Belgium and on through Germany. It's 414 miles to Jungholz on the Germany/Austrian border so we'll see plenty of scenery after daybreak I reckon we can average 50mph plus an hour or so for coffee & toilet breaks etc  so anticipate arrival around  lunchtime. We'll probably get a few hours kip and then drive into Innsbruck for a look round and an evening meal. Then it'll be back to the Hotel and up and away at 6am Sunday. I expect the average speed  to drop to 40mph due to traffic and the winding roads in Italy especially since if we have time I want leave the A22 motorway at Trento and take the SP roads to Venice so 320 miles should take us to around 2pm giving us a 4 hour safety net for the Venice Corfu ferry with Anek http://www.anek.gr/ . I hope this helps and I'll try and keep you posted.

Steve

That is not a trip I'd want to do in a Suzuki Jimmy unless you have time for 3 stopovers which obviously increases your costs.

Newcastle to Kent is a fair distance and you've still got 1000 miles to go till you get to Venice.

I recently did Venice to Calais in just over 12 hours so it's possible but not in a small vehicle. The route I took was the Autostrade from Venice to 1/2 way between Turin and Milan and then up to Mont Blanc. Once you get into France you head North via Dijon, to the East of Paris and then onto Calais. The exact route is a mystery as I just followed the SatNav.

Good luck with your trip.

Hi Darren,

I did this trip at the beginning of April with a route from the Michelin site: http://www.viamichelin.com    I needed to get from Calais to Venice quickly so chose the toll road option. the total cost was €58 (euro) road tolls for France and Italy and €27 road tax for Switzerland which covers you for 1 year so the return trip is included. It also allows you to use the Gotard tunnel, whereas I think you have to pay for the other tunnels in Switzerland. the total distance was just under 1000 miles, of which 980 was on motorways so could maintain 130 km/h most of the way.

If you book with Minoan Ferries online you can get 20% discount on the fare (as mentioned above) if you are a member of the AA or any motoring organisation that is affiliated to ARC (ARC logo will be on the reverse of the card) in addition to the 30% Minoan discount for the return journey. Use promotion code "Show Your Card". You ar supposed to show the actual card when collecting the tickets at the embarcation port but I wasn't asked for mine.

Good luck,  Dave.
