I tried to lose a stone before I went to Kassiopi in May but failed miserably, but when I was there I didnt feel big, we all ate like royalty..lots of garlic king prawns, bread & lovely cakes...yummy....I was expecting to put on weight, but I didnt, infact people thought I had lost weight, so Dont worry about losing weight....just have a good holiday! you might come back lighter ;o)

There was a Head Line in the Daily Papers in the Week. It said that people who go to Greek Islands and Mainland Greece on Holiday loose weight and people who go to Spain tend to put weight on.
I know I always tend to loose about 5/6lbs on holiday in Greece.
So maybe there is some truth in this Survey that they done.

Hi, last year we had the Corfu Dieters thread running & it was Great! It was like 'Virtual WW'! I lost nearly a stone, unfortunately this year some of us posted on Lizzie's thread but it seems to have lapsed in the last few months and I have put back on about 6lbs, and would love to lose that before Corfu as I cannot now get in a nice white dress I wore last year but having dieted seriously since Jan & excersised too it doesn't want to come off this year & i only have 3 weeks left!

i needed to lose weight big time .. So , i gave Weight watchers a go .....I follow their points diet . it works for me .. I lost 20lbs before my holiday . Put on 4 while i was there and have lost that now , so i am going to try and lose another 10lbs ...I usually eat healthily anyway , so whe ni have reached my target weight it will be no big deal .. Before i was dieting my portions were far to big .. I loved the voddie as well !!So .. that is out for now
I enjoyed my holiday and ate what i wanted..
But . don,t let anyone tell you losing weight is easy ! it takes will power (( someting i do not always have))!!..................I still have what i want , only the portions are smaller .
I hope you all find a way that works for you .. But if you feel like trying WW . please do .. there are 2 eating plans you can follow ...
Good luck to everyone

I agree, Weight Watchers is brilliant . I lost 4 stone a couple of years ago and have more or less kept it off. At the moment I'm counting my points again as I don't want to be too big for my bikini in Kassiopi in August! Now I know how many points are in things and have their little calculator thingy it's easy. Try their website as they have lots of good recipes, the WW magazine is good too.
Good luck!

Hi everyone, I lost 3 1/2 stone by divising my own diet, stictly lots of fruit, veg, fish and olive oil. Practically no carbs and no fat other than the olive oil. I found it really easy and lost the weight within 5 months
I then went to Corfu for a week and with going out drinking everynight and the odd cheese saganaki, I've put on around 1/2 stone . Never mind, back on the diet and no going out all the time, I'm confident that'll disappear in a couple of weeks

Me too! But i made up my own recipe whichi have for lunch and its delish.Boil some pasta.Mix in 4 low fat cheese triangles and then grate a little cheese. Its great!
Those of you who ask what they can possibly do in a few weeks, even losing a few pounds can make you feel great! This is my typical diet and i am never starving.
Brekkie - Tea and Toast (2 slices)
Lunch - Pasta and cheese triangles
Dinner - Lentil Soup (anyone who wants the recips i can give it)
Dont push yourself too hard,i have a treat every day, whether its a packet of low fat crisps(you'll be surprised at what is classed as low fat,i usually have walkers cheese and onion or monster munch) or half a dairy milk bar.

Just back from Corfu and was told of a diet which one of the reps tried - BUT you must only try it for 5 days max - they reckon you can lose 5 kilos in a week.
First day all fruit, any amount at each meal. Must drink lots water (this applies to all days of diet)
Next two days grilled chicken fillet only (and the water)
Next two days salad ( and water).
The girl who tried it said it made her feel a bit dizzy after the first day. A nurse I know said no way to do it for more than 5 days max. But it does have an affect, apparently!

Not convinced by that one Lindy!! I'd be starving!!
I'd recommend Weightwatchers to anyone, I lost four stone three years ago with them and I'm still at my goal weight. I liked the fact that you could still have chocolate, crisps and alcohol etc. I still had a chinese takeaway every friday that i was at WW. (good tip here, switch to bolied rice to save 6 points, and chicken with pineapple, which is only three points is just like sweet and sour but without the batter)
Lizzi - try freezing a small pot of Total 0% fat greek yogurt and then put a small amount of honey on the top.
I saw the article in the papers too, apparently Greek food is the healthiest of european holiday food due to all the grilled meat and fish.
Stick at it everyone, but don't try and lose weight too quickly (speaking as a nurse here), you'll only make yourself ill and risk putting it all back on again. I never thought I'd lose weight so its worth persevering.
Good Luck, Love Bronwen x x x

I've been doing WW since January and have lost 27.5lbs. My last weigh-in before my holiday is this coming Tuesday so I'm hoping to get to 28lbs off.
I have no intention of dieting while I'm on holiday but like a lot of you, I tend not to put too much weight on anyway. When I get back from my hols I will go back to WW and hopefully get to my goal weight by Christmas.
Good luck to everyone trying to lose some weight

Hi all, mine might be a bit drastic but i have aquired diabetes type 2 and have have lost a stone over the last month ( every cloud having a silver lining and all that eh!). In saying that have sussed out the drinks to drink and STRAIGHT ouzo with a wee bit water is ok. That will do me ha!ha!

I also liked the fact that I could still eat crisps with my packed lunch at work with WW! The other teachers in the staffroom were amazed at what I could being on a diet - They also liked the fact that with each stone I lost I bought cakes or biscuits for them all at break time!

My weight's not such a problem, but if anyone's got any good tummy tightening excercises I would be grateful. Less than 3 weeks to go and I still can't get rid of the podgy tummy!
Cadbury, is your eating problem anything to do with your name by any chance? lol.

Have tried quick fixes in the past and it's never worked and I've ended up not being able to wear the clothes I want.....particularly on holiday when we want to dress up a bit.If you've starved yourself it is noticeable as you look dehydrated and strained. Have now joined Scottish Slimmers (saw the holiday photos and was upset!) and I'm folowing the instructions. I go back to Paleo in September and hope to be a bit slimmer but I'm focussing on the Christmas Ball and hope to be at my goal by then.

I've been using Dove firming lotions for about 2 years now, I don't think they have made my skin that much firmer but maybe have stopped it getting any worse!
I'm ALWAYS on a DIET! I do have an underactive Thyroid gland which hinders me & now maybe IBS which makes me very bloated but I have to say on Holiday in Greece I maybe only put about 2lbs on, yeah maybe it is the Greek Food that is not so fattening, we only have a car fo 3 to 4 days so do walk alot there & do try to swim alot although it isn't my fav sport!
Please see my Thread on theLottie Berk Technique on the Beach I was hoping this would be the miracle cure I've been searching for , but am encountering a few probs!!

Well after a bit of a depressing week diet wise, I went to Nottingham today for one last attempt to buy holiday clothes, and for once bought nice skirt & top which suits my shape JUST fine & not one that once I got home I feel I'm going to take back!, and . . . . .wait for it - a bikini, OMG!! It is black so very slimming & I can always do an 'Elizajay' and stay horizontal whilst wearing it, then 'sarong up' when vertical! lol!
Met Dawn at lunchtime & allowed myself a Latte!! Which was nice coz talked about Corfu . . . .which is never depressing!

Any suggestions on how to get motivated. I know what I should do, but can't seem to do it! Need something to kickstart me and I REALLY need to lose weight - any suggestions anyone? Am normally strong willed but cannot seem to get the better of this one - think my friend is correct when she says it is mostly psychological (bit like when they say people have to be ready to give up smoking, maybe?)
Have tried WW, Slimmers World, Pilates, Gym etc etc and just slip back into bad habits really quickly. Don't know what else to do to get going properly. Only need (only!) to lose one and half stone but stone would do! Don't want to try anything drastic though. Nana

Often a future event spurs you on, like a wedding or party where you need to look nice in a new outfit, but what better motivation than going to greece for a holiday?
I've certainly had the motivation but the actual weight n inches loss hasn't been so easy!

Ive tried that it does not work for me but i have friends that have found it really helpful. It all boils down to will power and having people around you to give you positive support, and having something to look forward to. You can do it .

I got weighed 10 days ago and was amazed to Find that I was 15 Stone 8. I was stunned into going back to the Gym, cutting out Breakfasts and eating Fruit at lunch time. Ten Days later I'm exactly 15 Stone with 4 Weeks to Go to Corfu. I will be happy to be 14 Stone, which means I will be a rippling mass of muscle..........................as If..
It can be Done Ladies, ,, My advice is dont wear any make up for the Gym and cut out the Chattering when you are exercising
