I love it too, cant get enough of it!!! It seems to have an hypnotic effect on me, draws me back all the way from Manchester!!! Last year I went twice - this year I am going in June with my daughter, but I am making myself go to Rhodes later in the year to try and break the hold that Corfu has on me. Since my first holiday 5 years ago to Corfu I have been back every year since!!! Never done that before!!!

Me Too, love most places, drove down to Kavos last year drove in and out again, not for us, but love the NE coast the most. Think this coastline is spectacular, and the Peroulades and sunset beach. People who have not been ask me what its like, I tell them lake district with sunshine, but better lol Ann xxx

Corfu, I hate it. Had some compensation for a duff holiday elsewhere and the only place we could book at short notice was Corfu.
Went there and absolutely hated it. It was that bad that we went there again the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that, etc. You get the drift.
It was that bad that we bought a house there three years ago and we still have to keep going back a few times every year.
You've guessed it! I absolutely LOVE that place.

We adore Corfu.
Even after 5 years we still look out towards Albania from our villa and just cannot believe that we are sooooooooo lucky to be able to spend lots of time here.
Love, adore, these words just cannot convey our feelings but they have to do.

My family and I think its the best place in the whole world...11 years for us now and find it hard to go anywhere else. No where else just doesn't seem to compare really. Only 2 other places I (sort of) feel the same way is Cornwall and Cuba. Corfu is a very special place to us!!

Hi juliepat...I'm made to feel welcome and nothing seems too much for the people of Kassiopi..but the reason I went back the second time was because on the first visit I had paid my bill in a restaurant called Jackson's in the square, and in those days the currency was the Drachma, anyway afterwards we went to three bars and while we were in the third bar in walked Yanni who owned the restaurant with a bill in his hand...
I thought I had not paid enough for my meal...but no the reason he came looking for me was I had given him a 10,000drx note instead of a 1,000drx note, that brought a tear to my eye as something like that had never happened to me in all my life. He had been looking in all the bars for me so he could give me my money back.
And that was the beginning of a lasting friendship between us and the people of Kassiopi 22 years later and have never missed a year since.

Juliepat, I dont really know why. Could it be because we always meet up with out friends Julie and Pat when we go or could it be that we stay with our friends Takis and Luisa at their hotel or could it be that we have so many good friends out there or could it just be all of these things put together. Or it could be that we just LOVE CORFU because its such a beautiful and welcoming island as you well know (even though you dont venture away from the bar haha) see you in September xx

Count me in, went for the first time 24 years ago and thought I had fell in love with Greece so tried lots of other Greek Islands only to find it was Corfu I loved, I really enjoyed the other Islands but it's Corfu that draws me back, it's the only place apart form Corralejo in Fuerteventura that I've gone back to time and time again.

First visit was in 2004 - before that had NEVER been back to the same place twice for holidays - well, that was it! Every year after that Absolutely hooked. People ask me what is so special about Corfu, and I really can't put it into words, but for me it is "magic".
We took a friend with us 3 years ago, and she was amazed that when we walked into a shop/went to book a boat etc, we were greeted like long lost friends, although we only go once a year.
Don't think I will make it this year, but am hoping to fix it for a special birthday next year. In the meantime I shall think of you all enjoying your holidays this year.

I was a late starter and hadn't been on an plane or abroad until I was 40 - after a lot of umming and ahhing between all the Greek Islands and where to go me and hubby decided to go to Corfu - it was the only place my Father in law had ever been and he had not long passed away.
This will be our fifth time back this year - we have been to Kefalonia (son's wedding) Majorca, Houston and mainland Spain in between, but that was only because it was out of season for Corfu or we would have gone there.
Must admit though for a first flight for someone who isn't that keen on heights and needs a few strong whiskeys to get on a plane Corfu airport did not seem like a good choice at first - the shortest runway in Europe so I am told and in the sea!!! Also did not help that when the plane was about to take off at midnight to go to Corfu on my first ever flight after taxi-ing half way down the run way the plane stopped - we sat there for ages - I tried to say calm and then the Pilot announced that we would be delayed as there was a passenger on board threatening to open the doors in mid flight if they were not let off - I wasn't toooo nervous up to that point!!! But ... it never put me off and with the aid of the whiskey I still manage to get on the plane as I know it's worth it because I know where it is taking me.
We would love to move there - it's so beautiful and friendly but I know I can't - I can dream though.

I am sat here in my shop wondering what I love about Corfu and the amswer is EVERYTHING. I cannot fault the place. We will be there with some friends in August and I really hope someone will offer me a job so I dont have to come back to England. I can always hope.

I could find some faults with Corfu (no evening bus service up the north east coast for instance) but the positives far outweigh the negatives. We keep going back because we love it and we love being there. Of course it is good just to be on holiday anywhere but there is something extra special about Corfu. Very difficult to express it in words, I think it is about the way we feel when we are there.

Used to love it as a child/teenager, then stopped going. Returned back in 2008 (aged 31 at the time), and it's been back on the holiday list ever since, only six weeks to go until hubby and I are back again.
