Hiya, last year I went to Zante and couldn't get any money out of the local ATM's coz they didn't accept HSBC cards. This year i'm going to Sidari, can anyone tell me if there are HSBC machines in Sidari or in any of the neighbouring resorts? Thanks!

You can use Hsbc switch cards in the A T M machines  in sidari, as we have them, and used them when we visited sidari, also used it in Zante a couple of years ago..

There was a thunderstorm in the U K, when we went to draw money out, and it was off line for a while, an hour or so later we were able to draw money out...Good luck!

Welcome to the site by the way !

Hi

I've had no problems with any of my HSBC cards in Greece. So far as I can see, provided that the machine you are using covers Maestro (for debit cards) or Visa/Mastercard for credit cards, you should have no problem.

Whatever happened to Eurocheques??

Hi Martyn,

Eurocheques are not in use anymore, because of all the possibilities of all the plastic-cards.

Hi Jan

Sorry, I was being ironic! Eurocheques were a superb, cheap and simple system that worked very well. Perhaps that's why they were dicontinued!

Hi Martyn,

Keep them they may become collectors items, I think I shredded all mine some months back, as you say they were cheap and worked, oh well all good things come to an end.

TheChef.
P.S. I just had a look and I do still have them.

I have a HSBC card and use it regulary in Corfu. The only place I have had a problem is at Aqualand's machine and have never managed to get any money from this machine.I presume that your card does have a Maestro symbol on it allowing you to use it abroad ?

How much does it cost to withdraw money from the atm and where are they in Sidari? Has anyone had problems with no money in atm when making withdraws? Or is it safer/more reliable to take travellers cheques?

There are about 50 ATMs in Corfu island to use your HSBC card.
