Hi Everyone,

We are going to Corfu on 12th August for the first time.  Just want to say how much we are enjoying this wonderful site.  It is a mine of information! Also thank you for the very promp response to our previous post.

We are going to Moraitika and staying at the Irini Apartments - has anyone heard of them or know where they are?  We have read some very favourable reports of the area here and are really looking forward to our holiday.  We have been reading about the surrounding area and think that Boukari sounds interesting.  We are wondering if it would be realistic to walk from Moraitika to Boukari.  We see a particular taverna recommended and thought it might be nice to stroll over there for a meal during our stay.

This country must hold some magic judging from the enthusiasm and number of times people return.  Can't wait to taste it!

Look forward to your replies.

Darby & Joan.

Hi

I don't know the apartments you are staying in, but as for walking to Boukari, it is possible but it will take you a while, around 2hrs or so. It's a relatively easy walk, no steep up hill climbs although there are the occaisional up and down hill parts, nothing too bad. There's also several tavernas along the road so you can stop for a breather. It's a lovely walk though along a quiet coast road with minimal traffic.

You'll need to turn off the main road, down into Messonghi, 2nd on the left after you cross over the river, then keep going straight through Messonghi and along the coast.

If you don't fancy the walk, the taxi rank is on the road near the river and a taxi won't cost you that much.

Have a great hol

Sue

Thanks Sue for your helpful comments.  We may try the walk, depending on the energy levels and the heat of the day!  We are so looking forward to a nice relaxing time in Corfu and seeing around us a bit.  Roll on 12th August!
