Seems like ages ago......and unfortunately a fair few stone
As for the hair.......Other than when I was a little girl, I've pretty much always had short hair. I'm a bit of a tomboy (wanted to wear jeans at the wedding!) and thought I'd better make a bit of an effort for the day, and grew my hair so that at least David knew he was marrying a girl
We had a pretty small wedding up in the north of Scotland and it was soooo cold that day

Don't suppose i could try bribery with the offer of some freshly cooked moussaka, or sifado in return for the answers
And i can only echo the previous comments, you were a beautiful bride (can't believe the colour of you!!!!).... The one thing you can rely on in Scotland is usually a cold day, but you both looked like you weren't letting that spoil a thing
Kindest regards
Angela

Trace, I agree with Seabubbles, you were a beautiful bride....your hair is gorgeous long, but I know it can be a pain to keep long, especially if like mine it is thick and curly but you like it to look thin and sleek! It's a constant battle!

Might as well join in! The wedding picture is lovely, I also like your hair like that. I think quite a while ago you had a sepia type picture as your avatar with the same hair and I thought it looked nice at the time!
See you on Saturday
Cheers

So far I'm at eight this year, with one more to go before the end of the year.
This doesn't count any weekends away/trips in Scotland (usually just to a log cabin, cosy cottage or caravan to completely relax), of which I usually manage three or four a year.
Next year is already shaping up to be a very hectic one though...........

Would you please write to President Bush and tell him it's not fair that we working Americans get NO mandated vacation per year? Then tell him about YOUR vacation time each year. Would love to see the answer!
Well, at least SOMEONE's living the way one SHOULD live! Bravo, Trace!

I only work a three day week (12 hour shifts), so get time off every week anyway. By swapping shifts with one of my colleagues I can get time off when I need it without using up too many holidays.
I can also take unpaid leave, but prefer not to if I can help it.
Roseanne, As for being minted......I wish! Let's just say I'm not exactly best friends with my bank manager at the moment

Trace, we are poor relations to you....having three (or more usually) four holidays each year. I am fortunate that i work for the Civil service, and have done for donkeys years, so have a generous leave allowance. Paul however only gets four weeks....but his company 'shuts down' over christmas whch is why we always go away on Boxing day for week....it's a freebie leave wise for Paul, and doesnt deplete my allowance too much with the bank holidays/priveledge days (Sorry Portia!!!). But as we both lead such busy lives....my holidays get me thru the winter months...planning, researching....etc etc...it's basically the reason we both work...a decent house and just as important fabulous holidays! Although to us, to be fabulous a holiday doesnt have to be expensive....just time away as a family is what we look for...

Trace: It still sounds pretty fabulous to me! At least you GET paid holidays. ANY amount beats the U.S.! But I am sorry that you have to work those horrendously long shifts (12 hrs.). Ugh!
Two together can do anything. One alone, uh, well.....
I hope you've kept a journal everywhere you've been. so that you can one day publish a book about it all! We homebound people would love to read it!

Don't ever come to the U.S., where there are NO mandated holidays of any sort whatsoever! We over here have to work just to have food and shelter, and never mind the "holidays," which we don't get. Even the so-called "federal holidays" are not mandated as paid workers' holidays in the U.S. Thus, if the boss wants to force you to work on Christmas Day, well, you just have to! Or New Year's Day! And if you object, you're fired. Your hubby "only" gets 4 weeks' paid holiday per year? My dear, right now, get down on your hands and knees and thank the Creator for what you have and that you do not live in the U.S. where such holidays do not exist! Because, as you say in your posting, "[the holidays are] basically the reason we both work." In the U.S., the reason would be degraded to, We have to eat! And that's the way the employers like it! There IS no light at the end of the tunnel, or carrot at the end of the stick!

Portia Hi...I have read many of your posts and was astounded at what you told us...which is why I included an apology in my latest post! I have realatives who live in America (San Diego) and they really do rave on and on about how much better the lifestyle is over there compared to England. I am lucky enough to have stayed over there with them...and have to agree it was pretty fab! However, and I think that this is where the difference came in...they first went over there to work for a British company (something to do with lottery/pools not too sure) so maybe that's why they dont have the same conditions as you? You have truly enlightened me, and I really feel priveledged now to get the amount of leave I get....I hope you dont think i was rubbing salt in the wounds coz I truly wasn't portia
Best regards
