I think we flew from Luton with Easy jet (can't remember what year 2009?) I know it was late March, we returned on a Thomson flight into Manchester on the first flight back, only three passengers me, him and one more
Then again I might be losing my marbles, defo Luton, defo before the tour operators flights started and defo Easy jet

Yes, there always used to be a choice between Luton and Gatwick with Easyjet to Corfu. Much easier for us (ex) northerners to get to Luton than the dreaded Gatwick!

Hi Nige, long time no speak, but a big thanks for your heads up on the Luton flights with easyjet.
It is a long, long, long, long way to Luton from Bonnie Dundee, but well worth it.
We fly back to Newcastle with Thomas Cook for £97.00 all in. (cases etc). AND only £74.00 all in ex Luton going out.(check out fights from Scotland for June/July and you will see what I mean)
Living in God's Country, that is a big result for us.
Now looking forward to East Coast Railways very cheap tickets to London.
Trust you are well.

I hope Stansted is next, as Susanna, says and I agree people north of the Thames, it is a bit of a pain.
Hi
Take a look at Ryanair £20.00 + luggage,
Unlike easyjet no tax

All I can think of is that Easy jet took off the service from Luton after we flew to Corfu in 2009? in the March. We never needed to fly from Luton again because Easy jet introduced March April etc flights from Manchester, but we definitely flew from Luton at the end of March

Maggy - Easy Jet started flying to Corfu in 2008, when they purchased GB Air which was previously the only scheduled carrier flying directly to Corfu from the UK. At this stage, Easy Jet aqcuired the GB Airways slots, particularly from Gatwick.
So far as I am aware, Easy jet haven't operated a Luton/Corfu route until now - trust me (as someone who lives even closer to Luton Airport than Bruce) we would have used them!

We flew from Gatwick one year, our son drove us down and picked us up.
There was a method in our sons madness in taking us to Luton Airport, he did it on the proviso that he could use our car while we were away, it back fired as our daughters car died a death and she had to use our car instead of him.
The Luton journey, he only had to take us there and not pick us up as we were able to fly into Manchester on the 1st May on a the first Thomson flight that was returning to Manchester after delivering it's passengers to Corfu.
Only us and another passenger on the flight along with two pilots and 5 cabin crew, free meals as well.
I've seen Luton airport many times on TV (Airline) I was even looking for the Lovely Leo who sorted everyone's problems out
Sorry to go on

I have to agree with Martyn on this one, we have flown plenty of times from Luton but they have always been charter flights not scheduled..and I'm sure I would of seen if easyjet were flying from Luton to Corfu because thats the first airport I key in when booking our flights to Corfu just on the off chance easyjet may have added Luton..
Anyway I enquired about changing our flights from Gatwick to Luton and easyjet want £258 for three of us for the privilege..so it will be from Gatwick next year and hopefully easyjet will still be flying from Luton next time I book for Corfu.
And like Martyn..I only have to stand on tiptoes to see Luton Airport from our house...If I had waited 8 more days I could have been flying from Luton £20 cheaper. but never mind the most important thing is we are going to Corfu.

I too, remember you metioning this journey (largely because I had a similar experience on a GB Aiways flight from Gatwick (OK, there were four other passengers)at roughly the same time. You may have been offered a seat on a positioning flight - which sometimes happens.

We have to drive around the airport to get to the terminal, which is just soooo annoying We iive to the south of the airport, a friends house is virtually next to the runway (western end) and another friend farms the land along the southern boundary - parking could be so much easier...

You have got to admire some of the members on this site for the distances they are prepared to travel to a UK airport which could be hundreds of miles away from their homes...for a two weeks holiday in Corfu, now thats what I call love and dedication to Corfu.

There is absolutely no doubt at all that Easyjet used to fly from Luton - but it is possible that it was to Athens and not Corfu. We used to prefer Luton over Gatwick because it is closer to Yorkshire, but it may well be winter flights I am recalling which would have been to Athens with an onward connection to Corfu.

Thanks everyone for indulging me and getting my brain cells into gear,
I definitely remember flying from Luton, but, now my jaded memory has been jogged, I'm not sure if we flew Luton to Athens and then continued our journey with Aegean---or was that Gatwick to Athens?
Hand on heart I can't remember, sorry Nigel, in future I'll take your word on the the things that you know more about than me, that's my very best grovel

Luton/Athens has been availble for a long time - it's just that we have hardly ever used it because it was more efficient and cheaper to fly Olymic or Aegean on a through ticket.

Mrs Mushy - no problem I'm off next Thursday morning (from Gatwick) returning to the UK on Sunday night. I would love to go for longer, but work is getting in the way
