HI ALL

I WAS READING THE THREAD ABOUT "TOURISM IN ALBANIA" THE WOMAN BEGGING WITH A DEAD BABY IN HER ARMS MUST HAVE BEEN IN A HOPELESS SITUATION TO HAVE DONE SOMETHING LIKE THAT TO FEED HER FAMILY. I FILL REALLY SORRY FOR HER.BUT PEOPLE DO SOME SAD THINGS WHEN THEY ARE HUNGRY....TAKE MY WORD FOR IT.

I HAD BBC RADIO 2 ON IN THE CAR THE OTHER DAY... AND A LADY FROM A CHURCH IN JOHANNESBURG SOUTH AFRICA SAID THAT BETWEEN 20 AND 30 BABYS A DAY ARE BEING ABANDONED ON THE STREETS.SO THE CHURCH SET UP A HOLE IN THE WALL WERE THE WOMAN COULD PULL DOWN A LID (LIKE THE ONES THEY HAVE IN BANKS OVER HERE TO DEPOSIT MONEY ) AND PLACE HER BABY IN TO GIVE THE BABY A CHANCE IN LIFE...INSIDE THERE IS A SENSOR TO ALERT THE PEOPLE IN THE CHURCH THAT A BABY HAS BEEN PLACED IN THERE. IT'S NEVER THE MAN THAT EVER SEEMS TO GET THE STICK BUT THE POOR WOMAN.

PS. I WAS PUT UP FOR ADOPTION BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH TO GO AROUND SEVEN KIDS.

That is so sad Bruce. My mum was an abandoned baby, left on somebodys doorstep, her mother was never found !later she was adopted. Lizzi

bruce - i heard the article on radio 2 (i'm a tog!)

i believe that there are schemes along the same lines in india as well - didnt 'ground force' do a garden for a children's home that looked after these 'abandoned' children?

i've been a tog for longer than i can remember and was a tyg before that.

I have listened to the TOG shows by Mr Wogan, but have not joined or been part of the ranks. However, I can say I was a TROG. Any ex Navy lads will know this, and will probably be proud of it. It was a name given to those who joined the Royal Navy at 15, at HMS GANGES, meaning a "Trainee Rating of Ganges".

Thought you might be interested. Oh well. .

Nice one for the T-shirt Becky........

I used to have to write the name of my accommodation on the back of my hand when I was on holiday so that if I got a bit too drunk, the taxi driver would always know where to take me back to. Was many a drunken year ago now......am nice and sensible these days, even though I've a fair few less brain cells!
