I am new here and was told of this site while on holiday in Greece.

I find the sight very interesting for all who like me love the way of

life and holidays in Greece.

I'm not certain if this is ok but do people on the site ever meet in

person and make friends and partners.

A lot of advice exists on how to get back into relationships

and the most common being to join clubs etc with people

of similar interests.

Hi Ray,

Lots of people make friends through this site.  Whether they find long-term romantic partners I don't know but friendship is a great place to start!

You will find that people arrange get to-gethers on Corfu but also in the UK.  There have been several Greek Nights over the years and I believe lots of wonderful and lasting friendships have been forged that way.

Hi Ray, and welcome.

I think you've stumbled on something great here, I am sure our leader, Nathan (peace be upon him) would consider adding a 'lonely hearts' forum to this illustrious site and good things could come of it.

Freindships can lead to meeting all kinds of people that surround us and that in turn can lead to relationships forming.

Speaking for myself, if my partner threw me out at anytimre in the future then to be able to contact like minded unattached individuals through a lonely hearts forum would certainly be an option.

Just a few points about myself, I will not visit a taverna that sells mythos, has to be amstel; will not be associated with union jack short people; I can be very annoying but in a 'nice' way; I like peace and solitude but also enjoy people watching.

Oh, and if I may be a little direct here...... drop the 'rainman' username, find another, it's just a little depressing the rain thing. Not saying my own username 'ecotrails' is any great shakes, but was an accident, typed in my email address instead of name, and it stuck.

Anyway best wishes, hope you find what you are looking for, you have found a wonderful site here anyway.

Ray,

There is one thing on this site that all members have in common, that is a love of Greece and Corfu in particular. Many members return year after year, often to the same resort. This has meant that families have made friendships which have lasted many years.

We have members that have bars or resturants in the resorts, they are often used as meeting places for members. These locations are often usefull places to exchange information about places to visit or where the best place is to eat outside your resort.

I am sure that many members and visitors have made long term friends whilst on holiday in Corfu. Enjoy your holiday on the island, if you want any information on a certain area of the island, just post on the forum that deals with that area.

Yammas,  Colin.

We had a 'get together' for forum members last September, & it was lovely to actually meet people we'd come to know through the site........... we will try & arrange another for this summer if anyone is in the area & is interested??

As for dating....... why not put some photos on your gallery?????

Well Ray - I met ElaineK on a "date" in Paxos ( yeh yeh ! ) - and it seriously disturbed my mentality thereafter !!

I also met a few other regulars and that didn't help either - !!!

Chris ( Seaangler ..... I have yet to "tie the knott" with .... )

But the truth is - that, and this has be said - Its a wonderful starting point - if you have such a common interest as our love of Greece and her islands - in particular the Ionian - which are still to this day my favourite !!!

Be honest - up front and speak the truth all the time - sometimes this might lead you into bother - but ultimately it will let people know the REAL you and thats always a good thing -

As for romance - well - I personally am too old for all of that - but if you are young and free - good luck to you !!!

Hope this works for you !!!!

Cheers
SIMON

........... A little romantic ode to Elaine....
They told me it was true, how my Esso Blue.... ect ect ect...

Does Simon have a sense of humor, I have never noticed it.

I am being wicked, trying to make the best of the new posting system.

Simon, sorry for comments, just testing the system.

Eco,

I feel that you must of thought long and hard prior to posting. I think that it is true of most members that they think long and hard about offering advice unless it is cut & dried. Even then it might not be the best thing to do.

This site is a travel forum for the exchange of travel information not a lonely hearts club.

Please accept my heart felt sorrow for the loss of your friend.

Yammas, Colin.

Thank you Colin. Actually I now believe I didn't think long and hard enough, had just heard the news of his death about 10 minutes before I posted it, which I linked to thoughts of lonely people or people who want to find companionship but find it difficult and also in my own confused way I wished people might think of him even if they did not know him. You are right it is not a site for lonely hearts in particular which is why I have now deleted my post.
Thanks again anyway.

Surely any site can have additional features to it's main topic .. seems hard line not to.

I think, for all us long-standing members, that this site is about far more than just information for travellers. Many travellers are looking for more anyway and in a sense there are times when we are all lonely hearts. Even those of us who have happy relationships and lots of friends. For many people this site offer s something that has nothing to do with holidays. That is why people keep coming back to it.

Shame you deleted your post, Eco. I thought it was perfectly appropriate.

Thanks Julia ... my sentiments exactly.
I have made many new friends via this site, all because of our common interest in Greece.
Like many others i've also met in person people from here both in Greece and UK.
If frienships turn into relationships surely that is someting for us all to be happy about
We all keep visiting the site to share our new friendships and interest in all things Greek.

To Julia - Totally agree with you. I have a wonderful other half - but his shift work can make it lonely sometimes - sitting here day after day talking to myself. It is great to come on line and know that I do have friends in Cyber space and someone will talk to me. Cheers me up no end.
