Not heard anything to date and I would think if there was going to be any direct flights they would be out by now??? I will be really fed up if any airlines now do direct flights after booking my return flight via Athens already for first week of January!!!

Peter, I would have agreed with you totally until this week when I was on the practically full Ryan Air flights from and back to Corfu, finally stopping next Thursday. I think if they had extended their schedule until just into the new year they would have done well- too late now for this year as people have booked students etc on Aegean.

I don't wish to contradict myself below but purely as a one-off Xmas Flight, as in the 'old days' it's just not commercially viable. I was really, really surprised that Ryanair decided to finish in November, which is a far harder month to sell than December, and it would have made much more sense for them to have carried on up until the New Year, I totally agree. The handling arrangments Ryanair have in place at both Stansted and Corfu airports would have made it worthwhile for them - however, the handling costs for someone to have done it just for a couple of flights out of Gatwick (probably to get a slot) into Corfu would have been extortionate.

I was also amazed that the Ryanair November flights have been so well patronized. My flight to Corfu on 3rd had only around 50 people on it but the return on 9th was packed with very few empty seats.
I hadn't even bothered with Priority Boarding as I expected very few people but how wrong I was.
Looks like Jan has had a similar experience which is good news for the future of flights to Corfu in the winter.

Hi,
Could it be that the planes are already scheduled for the winter flights to hotter climates or for ski holidays?
Ryanair will "mothball" several dozen aircraft this winter as its cheaper to do this than fly with half a load, maybe if everyone who has used the service fires off an email??
