Just wondering if anyone can give me any advice. Me and my partner will be travelling to Sidari Corfu for the first time in Septenber with Olympic holidays. I've just been reading some reviews on how this company have changed their airline from Monarch to Skywings/Strategic, and a lot of people have been saying how the flights were really delayed and they didnt feel safe in the flight. Has anyone flew with these recently? Thanks xx

Hi charchar,
Which airport are you flying from? Im flying with Strategic on 29th August, Im flying from Manchester on the 19-15pm flight, Im using Manchester airport:live flight information.
The longest delay for my flight Ive noticed is 20 minutes last Monday evening it was 9 minutes, seems more like they were just waiting for the plane in front to take off,
on feeling safe does anyone feel 100% safe? Im always wary till we touch down. Enjoy your self.

Despite reports I am sure there is nothing to worry about re safety etc. The interiors may be a tad old and tatty but that will not affect its ability to get you to Corfu!!
But Skywings have been rather off and on in delays this year
Hopefully you will be fine. We are flying out with Sky Wings to Skiathos mid September. We too are keeping our fingers crossed delays are to a minimum. Since August 1st they have been mostly on time, with just one flight today taking off an hour late

Monarch didnt want to play with them this year, it was a money thing, could not agree. Left them in a bit of a pickle but they soon sorted out other carriers.
Similar thing happened to us last year, booked Monarch actually flew Viking and we found them really good, quite possible some of these planes are ex Viking and they were very comfy, plenty leg room.

You can rest assured that any of the 4 airlines we are currently using for most of our Greek/Cyprus destinations have not brought up their performance to a minimum acceptable standard, on a consistent basis, they shall not be contracted for summer 2012.
Kind Regards

Olympic said that Monarch wanted to concentrate on sheduled flight not charter? Look at the Sky Wings thread can't do the link thing!

I just rebooked with Olympic; September they have booked me on Easyjet as the Strategic flight is fully booked! But next year is showing up as Strategic again so at present they must be happy with the partnership at Gatwick.

I don't think it is just that they are happy with that airline. They have to sell packages for next year already and have to show an airline. This year there were changes of airlines at least 3 times from various airports. Some of them were not even on for a week. Finally someone admitted that they were considering chartering that airline, but it didn't come off. In other words they had to put something on as an airline to sell the holiday. Strangley enough details of flights with Aegean didn't last more than a day after a potential customer asked the airline if they were contracted to Olympic!
Personally I will not be booking for next year as not only the airline can change, but also the flight times to later in the day or even night.

Hi there,
I got back from Sidari this morning (Sat) and flew with Strategic with Olympic hols. Overall, quite happy with the service provided, but a few niggles. No long queues at check in at Gatwick which was good, but did have an hour and 15 minute delay,s o instead of flying at 10.15pm, left at 11.30pm. Plane was fine, but was a bit shabby and dated. Food served was OK and air hostesses very nice. No films or duty free on board, but that didn't bother us. On return from Corfu, again very quick check in and didn't have to queue outside which was nice. All going well, got on plane for our 4.25am flight (very tired at this point) when captain came out and unfortunately said technical problem with door not shutting correctly so had to get engineers to fix it which took about an hour or so. We finally left just after 5.30am. Was annoying, but what can you do. Problems have to be fixed and we fell asleep anyway. If we go back to Corfu next year with Olympic and they're still using Strategic, I wouldn't have a problem with using them again. Wasn't perfect, but not a terrible experience either...

We flew with Strategic end of June from Manchester. Initally told 4hr delay because of medical emergency night before, plane was stranded at Zante. We were given £4 each, well flight was only delayed 2.5hrs. Much better than when we flew with Exell, before they collapsed. We found the food some of the best we had, service good, arrived right on time. When we departed, we left early, service good, staff friendly. We had more room on the plane, seats bigger, than Monarch. Would we be happy flying with them again? You bet. One of the best flights we ever had.
