And don't forget to take some carrots when you visit...I promise you, you will get mobbed by some very grateful, beautiful donkeys!
It's a highlight of our holiday to visit and spend a little time with some lovely, gentle animals who just want a little bit of affection.

We visited in June. We picked up donkey poo, got mobbed for carrots, brushed two tons of hair from the donks, had some cold beer with Judy and the helpers, laughed at the donks with their trousers on (to stop the horse flies took lots of photos and some donations as well..
Its the highlight of my holiday and cant wait to go back next year julesxx

Volunteers are always badly needed during the winter months. Anyone living on Corfu who would like to help, do contact Judy.
Just a couple of visits a week for a few hours would help and as described above, it really is a very peaceful tranquill place very different from the old location.

We visited the CDR in July also.
We took carrots, but sadly no where near enough of them, as we didnt realise there so many donkeys there!!
We got mobbed by them and tried to share out the carrots to as many as we could, had a great hour and got some great donkey pics, will definately go back next time laddened with carrrots and fruit!!
They do a fantastic job there and its well worth a visit and a donation!

Yes, definitely need to take more carrots next time. We bought 6 packs from Lidl which clearly was not enough. Will have to find a carrot wholesaler on the island before visiting next year!

Just posted on facebook that in the last week, over several days 22 donkeys became very ill and stopped eating. This is what she said: "Symptoms and subsequent blood tests indicated toxic poisoning. We narrowed this down to maybe some plant poisonous to donkeys in the hay. The Corfiots cut and bale anything that grows they do not know nor care what might be in it.
Dance, Ketsi, Vidos, Dolche, Zois and Rambler died. There have been no new cases for 3 days. Krini and Bliss are still not so good but we have every hope the others will survive.
To prevent this happening again, they are having to buy hay - a clover hay - from the mainland where it is grown by specialists and they do know what they are doing. This costs 8 euros a bale (Corfu hay is 5 euros). This is a lot of extra money a week, so it would be really great if you could make a small donation to help us out. Just 5 euros on paypal please. You will be saving lives literally".

Oh my what sad news. Judy works so hard for those lovely donkeys and for such an accident to occur must have been heartbreaking for her. Lets hope all the other donkeys pull through. My donation will be on its way to her today.
