Hello Annelizabeth,
That's shocking news,we met so many lovely irish people last year who were staying at the Loulass Hotel in Psaras.(We stayed next door at Kerkyra Island)Everyone would meet up in Elenis taverna just around the corner and most of the guests we spoke to had been using budger travel for years and always staying at the same place.
In fact the Irish Times last August did a really good article about that area and budget travel.
Had anyone already booked for next year? I hope you all still manage to get to Corfu , i was looking forward to meeting all the lovely and interesting regulars next summer.

Budget Travel, Ireland's only carrier to Corfu, went into liquidation yesterday and has ceased trading. This means that there will be no direct flights from Ireland to Corfu. I can't see anyone else taking up this route. It will also make it very difficult for the many Irish people who have property in Corfu, most of it in the South of the Island. Ireland has had a long relationship with Corfu and this news is very sad.

Given that there are many cheap flights to Manchester from Dublin, and that Easyjet now fly to Corfu twice a week during the summer, could that be an alternative way of you getting to Corfu? I hope so, because Corfu needs all the visitors it can get

Also sad for their agents in Corfu who will lose revenue as well next year. I think Allways Travel in San Rocco were Budget Travels' agents for years? Is that corrcet?

It is indeed very bad news and of course our first thoughts are with the local people of Corfu. We will manage to get there somehow even in these hard times. I know the people of Messonghi (where I go) will miss the Irish a lot as, along with the British, they were often the only ones that actually spent money in the resort. The restaurants, particularly those like Minore, Eleni's etc have had many Irish customers for a long number of years. I really feel for them and also the local people who depend on tourists etc. Hopefully, though I can't see who, someone will come to the rescue.

Good News - Falcon Travel have taken over the Corfu route from Dublin - seperate brochure coming out tomorrow Tuesday 5 Jan, so we can get there again! Not sure what prices will be like but it will be better than having to take two flights.

Well that is Good News for all the people in Ireland trying to get to Corfu - and all the people who work in Corfu who need visitors to come to their Island.
Thank goodness - hope it does not work out too exepensive - will give you more money to spend in Corfu.
