Shopping for food on Paxos is easier than it used to be, with better-stocked shops and more frequent arrivals of fresh produce. Generally, shops tend to open from 08.30 until 14.00, Monday to Saturday, opening again after 18.00 though some may remain closed on Mondays, Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Shops are usually closed on Sundays. Supermarkets stay open all day, closing a little earlier on Saturday afternoons.
When it comes to shopping for souvenirs or gifts on Paxos, such shops open all day and every day, no set times as long as customers are around.

The olive oil of Paxos is famous for its quality, and makes a great buy.
There are a good number of gift shops in the three main villages of Gaios, Loggos and Lakka and craft ware and tapestry work are particularly good quality. Jewellery is also of a high standard and reasonably priced.
There is just one genuine Olive Wood shop in Paxos which is in Gaios and has a wide selection of the most wonderful olive wood designs.

The Paxiots, as like most other Greeks, lead a laid back life style and during the hot summer months, many have an afternoon rest in order to escape the sun, so some of the shops and other facilities may be closed during the mid-afternoon hours.
