I hate to admit this but I have three points on my driving licence from 2003 for a minor speed limit infringement. I notice with one car hire firm that they require a clean licence for car hire. Does this mean I and my family will need to purchase walking boots for our holiday in Roda which commences next week?

Hi
Obviously, I don't know which hire company you are referring to, but I have had no problems in the past with a similar (but now expired) number of points.

Dave,

I still do, but not for to long I imagine, now that we have Speeding Tax (fines) and Camera Revenue (safety) Units.

Country is going to the dogs courtesy of our marvellous Chancellor. Brutal extractor of taxes - missed his vocation as a Spanish Inquisitor methinks!

I've rented loads of times and the guys checking my licence saw my endorsement (jumping a red light). I've even pointed it out sometimes, just in case it would invalidate my insurance abroad, but it has never mattered.

Well done but how you managed it I dont know! I do around 24-36000 miles a year and regularly visit the infamous North Wales Zero tolerance Zone. Recently had fine returned (and points deducted) as  warnings not posted properly

You read my mind! I was just about to post the same question as my other half has a couple of little points on his license

I also read somewhere though that you have to have your full license for at least 2 years? I've only had mine for 1 & half years though so could this also be a problem??

Hopefully he'll get away with the driving as I think I might be a bit nervous driving in Corfu after reading what the roads are supposed to be like!!

Hi Maurs,

Yes, some rental places (including car rental arrnged through Agni Travel) do require you to have held your driving license for at least two years, but don't believe that everywhere is the same. Shop around and you should find somewhere without too much trouble. Where are you travelling to?

Don't worry about the roads too much, as you'll have read in the other posts on this topic, just keeps your wits about you and be careful......you'll be fine! The benefits of hiring a car far outweigh any disadvantages!
