It never ceases to amaze me at the things people put on their cases so they can recognise their case as its being taken off the plane. Ive seen teddies, socks, ribbons...
One guy even had a big picture of himself cellotaped to his case. All I can say is, he shoulda picked a better picture. It got a few laughs tho
So does anyone use anything weird and wonderful to identify their cases at the airport???

We just buy very "unusual" cases in the first place.....my solid suitcase is around six years old now and I've still to this day never seen one that looks anything like it (not quite the flourescent pink kiwi76, but along the same lines.....it's aqua and purple!)
Identification problem solved! (Still double check though)

last year my husband stood and watched our case go round, and round, and round,20 mins later he looked at the label andrealised it was ours.
This year ive bought bright turquoise case, and our usual black one,but have lots of rainbow striped luggage straps to put all over them.
No stopping us this year, corfu get your shades ready.............Very colourful!!!!

This may sound crazy, but I leave mine the way I bought it. Nobody seems to do that, preferring sticker, neon paints, etc!
By leaving it as it is, we can recognize it from way off since it's just looks plain.
Week-and-a-half to go before our (first) trip to Corfu. By the sounds of things on these fora, it may not be our last...

Pink kiwi... Im going to Sidari on the 26th for a week.
My boyf put Leeds United colours on our cases. Either in the form of ribbons or string....just something. He can usually spot our cases a mile off with or without something on it. He has a good eye for it.
I get quite flustered waiting for the cases. Im always saying to him "isnt that ours?" over and over again til he gives me the hand luggage and sends me to go sit down lol.

Having spent many hours at various airports looking for suitcases that look just like everyone elses, one year someone actually took my suitcase, which was identical to ours and I took theirs.
They ended up with all my lovely bikinis and I ended up with a false leg!! From that day on, I have travelled with one lime green case with phsycadelic patterns on it in orange and yellow and one orange case with geometric shapes in green and pink. Trust me.... NO ONE else is gonna go for my cases and we can spot them a mile off!! lol

It was bad enough to realise that my loon pants were back out there doing the rounds again, along with my old platforms, stripy tank top and two-tone cashmere coat - but I draw the line when those odious youngsters start trying to steal my good old scoubidou keyrings and pretend they are the great "new" cool things to have.
Is nothing sacred anymore?

TIP :- I sellotape all my underpants, socks and shorts to the outside of my case, this makes it easily distinguishable at the destination airport and also creates more room inside the case for my medication.

On my first case i stuck my surname on there which was pointless as my surname is smith and there were probably 50 other smiths in the airport with me! But it was a fairly distictive case anyway!
Now i have a navy blue one, and have a lime green ribbon on the handle I dont even need it though because me case is so small its unllike anyone elses theres always cases the same colour but all look huge to mine! And i have no idea how I get everything in, i made a record this year my case only weighed 14kg on the way out! my boyfriends weighed 19 i think! And no half my stuff wasnt in his case!! lol
I like the scubidu idea my niece loves them! I have to show her how to make them though so this website is very useful! I only knew how to do one type aswell Ahh how sad I love making these on the plane though just passes the time very quickly!

I've bought a nice new pink suitcase this year and both myself and my friend have pink luggage straps with "Girls on Tour" written on them so shouldn't be a problem!!

I usually put ribbon on also. My son has loads of stickers as its more exciting for a 6 year old waiting for a case.
The Only Sticker I have on mine everytime I go on holiday is:
"HEAVY"
Why do I always pack so much, vowing the next holiday I wont pack loads.
Loraine
Ps. so excited about my holiday Im gonna burst. Already started saying "this time next week we will be there". :-)

Sorry folks but TJ's have been selling the bright pink cases like hotcakes!! So you may have problems sorting out which is which. Mic's case is bright red with a rather fetching yellow and green handle. Mines a large softsided (old fashioned) plastic dark green thing which has numerous airport battlescars but I am rather attached to it even though Mic keeps offering to get me a new one. Never had a problem identifying them don't use ribbons, belts, straps or anything. Mic would have no problem, he sneaks off for a smoke and leaves me to haul both cases off the carousel

I have got bright yellow lockable straps on my luggage so as to be recognisable. A couple of years ago I could see my case coming around the carousel but it was plucked off by a young lady before it got to me. She never checked the labels. I rushed round to her and saw it was my case. She apologised and said she had a similar strap.
She was going to Kavos and I was going to Kassiopi, opposite ends of the island. I hate to have seen the look on her face if she had opened my case and saw my skiddies instead of her bikinis when she arrived in Kavos.

Great- at last someone else who remembers scoubidoos from the first time round - I've spent the last 45 years thinking I'd imagined them
As for cases, we've just got the boring red straps with our surname embroidered on them - never fails. One question though - why do three cases all checked in together invariably appear at different times on the carousel? One of life's little mysteries!

Every year we get a sticker from the TO we are travelling with. So our case was full of stickers of differnt TO's. But i dont know what happened on Corfu Airport of Schiphol Airport this year, all of them wer damaged so I took them off. Now I have to think about what I will use next year. Scoubidous arent an option as that was last years fashion in Holland (you're somewhat behind in England).
But I still have 300+ days to think about it, so I have some time.

We tend to use some very wide flourescnent ribbon tied roung handles of ours.
I learnt my lesson the first year tho........ i tied it on the side handle brilliant i thought till the check in desk then put an orange label with HEAVY round the same handle .........lol so now I tie it round the handle on the top that pulls out ( if you know what i mean)
in answer to sooz and bobbo the worst experience I had was............................. yippee my case is third out onto the carousel then unfortunately our second was about the 5 last to emerge and both cases were as heavy as each other ( am I glad they dont weight them coming home)
the scoubiedou things sounds really good bit like the tying a balloon to your car ariel to find it at a large events car park.............. then it backfires and catches on like wild fire and all you see is a sea of balloons.
but what ever you use to distinguish your case still check the labels cos some people think a case is theres and it doesnt always even look the same...................

I get really worried that we will not get our cases and they end up in India! This time I am going to pack half our stuff in each others cases then if they do get separated or lost at least we will both have something to wear (my contingency plan). I will get mydaughter busy making scoobies I think - great idea. Great forum, made me chuckle - especially the one about taping the underwear to the cases!

I just use my huge, bright blue soft holdall. Never seen one like it in about 2 dozen airports so feel fairly safe lol. Of course, being a soft bag it means all the clothes get a bit crumpled but that just give me a good excuse as I am terrible at ironing!
