We hope to semi retire to Roda, what are the house prices and the prospects of work?.I'll clean ,serve in shop etc .and husband is a gardener/handyman

Hi Gremlin,

I just answered your other post about working. I'm afraid it wasn't very helpful as it is not an easily answered question. If you are in the right place at the right time it may be easy to find work, on the other hand remember you are competing with local people for work that they need.

As for house prices, do an internet search on estate agents in Corfu and that should give you some idea. Remember to budget an additional 11% or so of the asking price to cover associated costs.

The house prices around Roda, vary greatly. It depends if you want a newer villa or a traditional village house. Whether you want to live in Roda itself, or would consider a village house a few kilometers inland. Also, if you want a house with a garden.

We bought a house through Corfu Estate Agents in Acharavi two years ago, that we are delighted with. A village house about 5 minutes drive from Roda.

As for work, there are quite a few Brits, who have been over in Roda for a number of years, and they seem to make a living. You should call in to the Roda Tavern next time you are in Corfu, as a lot of the 'ex-pats' drink in there after they have finished work, and pick their brains.
