We had no problems at all with the airport last year, but when we returned at the weekend it was an absolute nightmare - stood outside queuing for over an hour, then nowhere to sit as a lot of delays, then sat on the plane for over half an hour waiting for all the luggage to be put on - didn't help that when we got to Gatwick we had to wait and wait for the luggage to appear!

Amazing how on the way home these little things are not so exciting isn't it, and the patience runs a little low....!!!

Rest assured we will never let it ruin our holiday memories though!

We were also in the fracas that was Corfu airprt yesterday !! Think it was all down tio security problems after the London bombings.

We were some of the lucky ones our flight actually took off early, good job cos there was no where to sit !!!

I went to corfu airport last month and took everyone's messages on board.  Relaxed, went outside, had a drink...After an hour, the Newcastle flight bags had not shown on the screen. We kept asking people at the airport who told us to wait. After a couple of hours a rep came in and took our names (there were loads of us). Then another rep came to tell us that our bags were still in Newcastle. At that point, someone from the Newcastle flight had found their bags going round with others from another flight - we went over and found ours as well... after three hours the Newcastle flight was never shown as arrived - I don't think it ever did. It was as bad going back -- we were taken to the airport 3 hours before the flight was due - waited outside for more than 2 hours until a check in desk opened... But we had just had a fantastic holiday in Kalami - so we were mellow!

I hope they keep up the good work at Corfu Airport..I know you are still queuing and waiting to come home but at least its orderly and not the free for all it's been with queues criss crossing each other in the check-in hall for the last 30 odd times i've been going

It sounds like we were really lucky in June, we sailed through both ways with no problems at all.

I bet the bad luck will get us next time !!!

we have been to corfu 5 times and have always travelled on a wednesday with palmair , it has always been so relaxed we get to corfu off the plane and with in half an hour out the airport boarding the coach  so good . but the only thing that has slowed it up is security going home , scanning you cases when you check in . im glad that they do but it could be situated in a better place not right in front of the check out desks . we are travelling there in september and are arriving on a friday so think it will be diffrent . but cant wait looking forward to it .

Oh Dear !! listening to these views of the airport I could have a bit of a problem.

Do they have any wheelchairs around for use ??? I have spinal problems and though I can get about reasonably well Standing is one thing I can't do for more than 5 or 10 minutes. I hate the thought of having to cart my own chair with me just for the airport, this is only my second holiday in 8 years I haven't needed it constantly and am feeling my feet so to speak !!!

Hi Jackie,

You shouldn't have a problem pre-arranging assistance (wheelchair/pre-board/airport help) from the airline/tavel company you're travelling with. Contact them to make arrangements.

Hi JackieD,

I saw a young lady at the airport in June who got off the coach to go home and a rep fetched her a wheelchair, so I would say you will be OK. You could always contact you holiday company and tell them the situation beforehand, maybe they can arrange one to be waiting for you when you arrive? Its worth a try anyway

Hope everything goes well

Dean

I know I can pre book assistance Trace had to have it for last 8 years, now I can get about again I was hoping to be able to cope without it now I don't need chair permanently, didn't think about queing for hours etc and really wanted to go "chairless" with my new found independance,we go soon so me thinks I had better have a re-think
