Hi SISI

And a very warm welcome to the site.

So far, from some of the reports that we have heard from members that have been on their holidays to Corfu already, they have come back with suntans. The temp seems just wonderful out there at the moment.Just keep our fingers crossed that it stays that way. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't come back with a tan.

Have a really great holiday, and look forward to reading all about it on your return.

It has been very very hot and getting hotter every week. The only problem is that you may be unable to stand the temperature in the sun at the moment.  It really is shaping up to be a very hot summer this year in Corfu.

Hi Graham,

That's nice to hear.

Just becareful all sunworshipers!! I find the best way to get a tan,is to walk about in the sun.Not sunbathe. I get bored easily if i am just laying about in the sun.

Well we were on Corfu at the very start of the season, back when the weather was a bit unpredictable and I still got a nice tan.......and I'm fair skinned and usually have to work at it!

You'll get a great tan I'm sure, but please be careful..........wear a suntan lotion with both UVA and UVB protection and keep out the sun during the hottest part of the day!

.....Yes i agree to what trace as said wear suntan lotion...fair warning to people with fair skin...Heed the warning as to the program that was on the other night with Trevor MC Donald as to words skin Cancer. It was Base of the amount of young children using these sun beds and getting a tan be for they go away on holiday and also to look good when going out for the night....It seem s to be that there are a lot of ginger type fair complexion people that are living more so in Scotland and the cancer risk is stronger among the people..After watching the program i will also be paying the Doctor a visit to have a check up my self as i have a lot of freckles and moles and did have a bad case of acne when i was in my younger youth...as it seems these so called tanning product are getting a lot better thus restricting the amount of sunbathing before you go away on holiday......and also if a lotion says water resident put more on after you have been in the water or the sea..as its better to be safe than sorry.....I am sorry if this upsets anyone but it has to be said......chris

I didn't see the programme you refer to Chris, but wish I had........

I am one of those high risk, fair skinned Scots that has used sunbeds in the past.

Nowadays I know better though!

Once again SISI, just be careful and you'll get a nice, safe suntan.

Todays Daily Express has a front page article on Sun Tanning. It reports how a 22 year old student died from her suntan.

We can only emphasise to all ages, particularly the younger ones, the need to ensure you have a good suntan lotion, with a high SPF, and if need be gradually, and I mean gradually work down. We personally would not go below SPF15 as recommended by Elaine's Pharmacy company.

It is too risky, specially for first timers in Corfu with a high risk of a very hot summer.

Happy Holidays, Yammas.

I too have had problems with the sun. Two years ago I had to have a op to remove a freckle from my face which was the beginning of skin cancer. I did not think anything about the freckle till someone else mentioned it to me. I was referred to the hospital where a biopsy was taken and then later on the whole area removed.   Very scary!! I blame it on holidays to Corfu for over 20 years and trying to get a tan. Now I just try my best to cover up and stay in the shade. Its a good excuse for staying at the bar!
Last year my 17 year old son got frazzed at the Aqualand waterpark -I was not with him for the first time - so he did not keep his T-shirt on as he was told by me - he was very badly burned and needed a doctor! What a fright we all got - he has learned his lesson the hard way. Just hope the damage has not been done already.
Our hosts at our apartments/taverna were fabulous and cannot be thanked enough. This event happened during the semi-final of the European cup, a doctor who was in having a meal in the taverna while watching the match came up to our room to see him and was absolutely shocked at the mess he was in. He got his temperature down, gave us a prescription and went back to his football match with no charge to us!!
On the night of the cup final he brought a special ointment to the taverna which cleared up his burns in days. Wonderful people - thats why we go back again and again. But the moral to this story is watch out in the sun.
I, like Trace, live in Scotland and have been told to wear sunscreen all year even is this horrible weather.
