Burns birthday day will be with us Scots
on the 29th. This might sum up our feelings?
Ae fond kiss, and then we sever;
Ae fareweel, alas, for ever!
Deep in heart-wrung tears I'll pledge thee,
Warring sighs and groans I'll wage thee.
Who shall say that Fortune grieves him,
While the star of hope, she leaves him?

I have been going to Burns night celebrations on the 25th January since I was two years old (My mum and Dad were in a highland band) and I am 67 this year. Must be a Scottish thing, moving it to the nearest Saturday.

"Ae Fond Kiss, and Then We Sever", is my favourite Burns song...but Metaxa Time that daft wee ditty makes me laugh everytime...it's not McGonagall but often attributed to him
