Hi Brian,
As stated on the closing down topic, there seems to have been a blip on the forum and a couple of hours worth of posts have disappeared. Have checked and they definitely have not been deleted.

There you go Brian -something goes wrong and you are immediately blaming the admin!! They do so much behind the scenes - moving the posts, editing, finding peoples passwords (when they have forgotten then)
and all the other tasks that are needed to keep a forum going. Yet you immediately accuse them at any chance and never once offer any praise.
Regarding the missing posts, actually it was me! I was trying to save the database so that you will still be able to access the posts when the forum is closed. By mistake I deleted about 2 hours of posts (actually that is how long it took me to do the work!)
You constantly harp on about this forum being a dictatorship - in reality you simply have no idea what really goes on and the legal issues that are regularly faced.
Nathan

What about a quick vote Agni site with the dissenters or without? I have no idea how a forum operates but as someone said earlier can't membership be blocked? This would not be dictatorship but simply giving 1000's of people the chance to continue with something they enjoy and putting a small minority out of their misery.

If you ban someone, they can simply rejoin under a new member name.

I still like the idea of couple of dodgy posts and your in the sin bin, naughty corner, time out...keep on and your out!! But as Nathan points out they can just re-join. Not easy..julesxx

Nicely put Nathan, well done for all the effort you and the team put in.
Great site, I think you put Corfu on the world wide web, when you set up the site all those years ago.
All the best, David

Neither have I smg. Another idea. New joiners just letting them ask questions on different resorts but up the post to 100 or 150 before they become 2 star members and can go into other comments???
Sorry if not clear but I have been on this site since 6am this morning and brain is going very fuzzy now.
I have my fingers crossed that I can still log on tomorrow morning at 6am Viv

Sorry walked away from the screen for a minute I know what I am trying to say just putting it into words.
Normally new starters have there first few post vetted to make sure they are not spam etc.
Well if a new member/old member with new name knew that the first 100/150 post were going to be vetted (I know that would be an awful lot of work for admin - but am sure that a few reliable old members would be able to do some vetting to help out in busy times) but people who maybe wanted to get nasty would get fed up with their post being sent to the sin bin before they even got on the site and either would not bother posting anymore or Admin/Nathan could throw them out.
Does that sound a bit clearer
Viv

Just ban their IP addy then they can't join again, I do do this on another site and it works.
Thanks for that Nigel, I was just going to suggest it, you beat me to it.
I go on to a Nautical site with 64,000 members, a really great forum with lots of seaman and ex.seaman and others with differing views as you can imagine. The owner of the site had the same trouble as Nathan, people bickering, being nasty to each other so he made a section called "Stormy Weather" so that they could all have a go at each other and let them get on with it.
He has barred a few people for inflammatory statements who then go on to another similar site and confer with each other saying what a bas---d he is.
I suppose the IP address goes with you until you change your provider.?
Alec.

Cant see the average guy in the street doing that, you also have a sub mask which you can trace. I remember a post on here a few years ago when a member of the admin team banned a guy who had already been banned and tried to join again using the same IP addy.

Thanks Nathan for working so hard to make the database available after the site has closed. There is a lot of info on there and it is nice to know that we should be able to refer to it. Thanks once again.

Nathan why don't you just down grade them so they have to have their post approved first before it shown..after all there can't be more than half a dozen who like to stir it up.
I really can't see what the problem is with some people not wanting to follow the rules after reading them and agreeing to abide by them while they are members of this site....then think they can then turn this site into a free for all and start slagging admin down who try very hard to please everyone.....give me the job and there would be a handful looking else where to whinge.

How about everyone paying Ł10 to become/stay a member with the proceeds being split 80/20 (80% for AAWF/C.A.R.E/Judy) & 20% for AGNI. Then if you are banned you lose your Ł10 & if you do try to re-join under a new name you'll have to pay another Ł10 & be downgraded.
I really enjoy this site & the people on it (well some of them!!) & think that it should be kept going by whatever means neccessary even if I have to pay for the priviledge.

OK-Elliemay to avoid tax issues---we miss Nathan out, I'm sure he wouldn't mind and give his suggested portion to a children's charity as I'm sure they're struggling to feed the children as well as others who look and tend to sick animals---or split the fee evenly to as many good causes as possible

I am happy to go along with that Idea. Gladly pay Ł10.

The problem is by having paid membership along with creating a lot of work collecting and administrating paid members have rights ie; the ability to take legal action if banned for one.
This has been looked at previously and thought through and considered impractical,

Supposing the donations were purely for one of the charities and paid directly into the charity. You would have to rely on folk's honesty but I'm sure most of us would be honest!

I am a bit of a computor anorak (would only admit it on here) and I have looked at sites for just about everything but only if they are free ... but this is the ONLYsite I would pay for ..it does mean that much to me!and a lot of others by the posts. I would also be willing to donate some time to help run it - even if it is to give my dear friend Brian a slap on the nose every now and then

Just been reading the comments.. has any body thought that maybe Nathan has had enough?
We all get fed up with routine so maybe the site has run its course for him and could continue with a new "OWNER"

MaureenandBrian, You seem as if you want the forum to close down, everything Ive seen from you is negative, if you dont have anything good to say, then maybe you should say nothing, you're comments are not helping the matter. If Nathan is reconsidering then you're negativity wont be helping with his decision.

Maybe it would help if no-one responded to any negative comments..don`t fuel the fire so to speak.. If a rude or negative comment recieves no feed back whatsoever, it will just fizzle out. Just a thought.
