We are going to Kassiopi and Sidari in May, but have just seen some cheap easyjet flights for October, so am tempted to book them. We have been several times to Kalami, Kassiopi and Sidari, and love the scenery on the north east coast. We usually have a car and travel round quite a bit, but never stay in other resorts long enough to get the real feel of the place. We would be coming for only a week and did not want to hire a car, so want somewhere with either enough going on (not discos or night clubs), or good transport links. We are in our early sixties and young at heart, but would prefer somewhere with easy walking. Preferable on the west coast, as we not stayed there. Thought about staying in a village, but would we then need our own transport. Any suggestions gratefully recieved. Thanks Ann xxx

Regular Blue Bus Service to Corfu Town so you can pop into town when you want. Last one Back to Pelekas from Corfu Town 10.00pm at night. Bus number 11.
I have not been there but just thought it would be easy to get out on a bus to town if you wanted a change of scenery.

Afraid that as Pelekas is on a hillside easy walking opportunities are limited.
Petriti might suit you- a village on the coast, not too touristic but with tavernas and bars- flat also. I know it is on the east coast, but is still unspoilt with fabulous views across to the mainland and some interesting places round- well worth taking a taxi to Chlomos one day, and maybe walking back downhill.

AG Stefanos on the NW coast may suit you as long as you stay down nearer the beach area. I stayed in October a couple years back and the tavernas were all open and the bars. Nice and quiet and a friendly place. I'm not familiar with all the accommodations but look at Thomas Bay or Little Prince and you wont go far wrong.

Must second Daveyh's suggestion. We visited in October and didn't stay there but it's a lovely place with plenty of bars and restaurants to suit you and Alan. But agree best to stay nearer to the beach as it is quite hilly. Thomas Bay is a popular hotel and a firm favourite with a lot of repeat holidaymakers but a lovely place...

Thanks folks for your suggestions, will look at those resorts, would be nice to have a change, the pull of friends we meet, locals especialy always draw us back to same places but have found most folk friendly on Corfu. If I carry on losing my weight might be able to manage a few small hills, but definitely not up to mountaineering!! Thanks again lol Ann xxx

Viv, have you seen the walk to the beach from Pelekas Going down might be OK, but one would lose the will to live when coming back!
You could get a bus down to the beach and back from outside of the church, not sure if it will be running in October though
I did say Maggy that I had never been there
Just think though you could eat all the naughty things and burn it of walking back up the mountain.
