LIVE MUSIC: Psomi kai Elia (Bread and Olives) next to National Bank at Kastania, on main Lefkimi Road about 300 metres past Jumbo, on same side
small taverna, Pouli tis Kotas (2661056561) in centre of Gastouri village
Balis Taverna Chlomos
TAVERNAS: Kafeses at Agios Georgios south (every day)
Stamatis at Petriti (fish)
several small tavernas also open on the Messonghi-Boukari road
Paxinos in Benitsesm(grills)
Klimataria in Benitses (reopening beginning of February)- possibly the most celebrated restaurant on the island, Greeks travel from all over the island to go there 2661071201
Avli in Garitsa, Corfu Town (except Tuesday)
Sunset view at Pelekas (never rated their food particularly but service is good, they are very friendly, and view spectacular)
Bekios in Mandouki (for some of the best meat on the island, and a reasonable price)
Lucciola Bistro Bar on Paleocastritsa road near junction with Skipero turning- for a special evening out, sometimes with live music.
Giannitsis- smell of lambs on spits from miles away! But they do have other food, noisy, basic, and good value, turn off main Lefkimi road at Kastania, just after the National Bank of Greece, where minor road divides take left turn (signposted) and follow round until you get to the taverna, and its parking, on right. Very good butcher's shop owned by same family is opposite.
Take a picnic to the wildlife wetlands area at Lefkimi, or to the lagoon of Korissia.
Not sure if all these are open all week, or just at weekends
Explore the old villages, most will have a cafeneion open for a drink and possibly something to eat too.

Hi,
Just for a really good Greek meal, Bavias more or less opposite Diellas in Sidari, Yiannis in Peroulades, or for a grill room with a roaring log fire in winter, Mon Amour in Kavadades, also known to the locals as Kokkinos. To my knowledge all of these are only open in the evenings out of season.

According to my daughter's great Corfiot friend of 27 years, Spiros at Milia (on the road out to Ag.Gordis) is the best bouzouki place on the island. It is near Kinopiastes but the only down side is that it doesn't open until midnight. I have eaten there many times and the food is really good (especially their aubergine in five cheeses).
Happy New Year!

We love to make a day trip in the winter to Old Perithia and have a latish lunch at Ognistria Traverna. Some of the best food I have ever had on this island, he currently has fantastic local red wine and you MUST try the rabbit stifado and Tsigarelli. Most veg and herbs are locally collected on the mountainside and you can really taste the difference. It is almost like being on the mainland without crossing the water.
