We have booked 2 weeks holiday in Roda, we normally stay in Kontotali so a bit nervous and this time its a package holiday as well, we are staying in the Afroditi on the sea front and will be overlooking the sea, what is Roda like of a night we dont go out a lot and spend time on the balcony relaxing, we do like to go out for meals and the odd night for a drink, we sound like old fuddy duddies lol but we are not, just dont have a lot of money, the hotel looks nice and Roda looks quieter than Sidari, so Roda here we come cant wait and looking forward to our well deserved break xx

Roda is a lot more laid back than Sidari so you should be fine. I personally hate Sidari at high season but my son loves it. I much prefer Roda as even in high season it doesn't seem that busy although there are many people about.

Roda is fabulous, the nights are great for people watching, the sun go down behind the Mitsis resort, looking out over the sea to Albania, watch the cruise ships/ferries go by. Although we stay inland and have great views over to the mountains, we can be found most nights in a taverna sipping wine, and doing the above. Plenty of choices to eat and some great supermarkets to buy anything you require for your balcony. Bev

I used to live on Corfu and I can vouch for some of the comments. Roda has a mixed bag of places to visit. Personally I think, if you avoid the British bars with Karaoke and take in the Greek tavernas and the character of this old village you will love it.
On balance, if you like the karaoke effect! then this will appeal also.
Roda is a versatile resort. It certainly has attractions. I remember staying at the Aphrodite in 1994!
Have a great holiday.

Roda's tiny little village centre is very atmospheric, and I have often likened it to a Cornish villiage, it has that sort of feel...the roads with the bars and restaurants form a triangle around the village centre, and the Hotel Aphrodite is close to the centre, being on the seafront. The bars which have been listed as 'kareoke', usually have bands or tribute acts on around 10.30 - onwards...good atmosphere and they are reasonable prices for drinks so worth giving them a whirl (even though you are all inclusive its nice to get out and sample life out and about!)...plenty of really good restauarants too, so if you fancy having a good meal out one night, just say the word and there will be lots of recommendations I am sure (my own favourite being the Roda Park)...you have made a great choice of resort XXX

Elizajay - Mate - you should be in the tourism industry. What a great summation of Roda. Muffy - take note of Eliza's comments - great stuff

We stayed at the Aphrodite hotel the first time we ever went to Roda and loved it. We went bed and breakfast, and if the breakfast isnt what you are used to, you can have whatever you like for a small extra charge. The hotel is right across the road from the beach so if you have a room on that side, you have a fantastic sea view. If you are b&b you will be spoilt for choice for places to eat at night - definitely something for everyone. Roda also has a regular bus service to Kassiopi and Sidari, and there is a taxi rank across the road from the hotel if you fancy trying somewhere else for a change.
Although we absolutely love Kalami, Roda comes a very close second. In fact, at night we prefer Roda as there is more choice of bars and restaurants (and its much cheaper than Kalami). We are hoping to go again for the fifth time this year xx

Never stayed at the Aphrodite so reading the reviews is very interesting. I used to use their pool when I was a holiday rep for Airtours in 1994 (on my ONE day off of course!!)

We went to Roda for the first time last year, going back this year as we loved it so much. We tried many of the tavernas in Roda and can honestly say we never had a bad meal. To mention a few, Maggie's Place, Roda Park, Roxanne's and if you fancy a really special night out take a taxi (cost 11 euros) up into the mountains to the Sunset Taverna breathtaking views and excellent food, I promise you will not be dissapointed. When are you going by the way?

We stayed in Roda the year before last, our first trip to Corfu and really liked it. There are some louder bits (on the road leading away from the beach) but as said, the old centre is really charming, lots of choices of places to eat, some with outdoor areas right on the beach. Our favourite was Roda Park by a mile and we ate there every night once we had found it. Breakfasts are cheap and plentiful. Last year we stayed in Kassiopi which was great but we visited Roda a couple of times and found it much cheaper, and with a quieter atmosphere. Enjoy, you will have a really lovely time.

Our favourite places to eat when in Roda are,
Five Roses (used to be Opa)
Kind Hearted Place (or Pangalos)
Drossia
Nikos Family Restaurant
Dolphin
Just outside Roda, a very lovely walk to Astrakeri and the 3 Brothers, 10-15E for a taxi back.
Taxi to and from if not hiring a car, Strinilas and a la palea, or Old Perithia and the Taverna with the walnut tree.
Plus there is a short walk to Acharavi along the beach road. We like Faros on the beach road just before you turn up the road to Acharavi.
There are plenty of others, enjoy. Bev
