Hi
Our passports expire on the 24/8/2012 and we are travelling to Corfu on the 6/7/2012 for one week.
I have read this from the foreign and commonweath office notice so would my passport be valid and would I expect any hassle at the airport?

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements - Passport Validity
You must hold a valid passport to enter Greece. For stays of up to three months your passport must be valid for the proposed duration of your stay; you do not need any additional period of validity on your passport beyond this. However, it is always sensible to have a short period of extra validity on your passport in case of any unforeseen delays to your departure. You do not have to wait until your old passport expires to apply to renew it. Any time left on your old passport when you apply will be added to your new passport, up to a maximum of nine months. For passport applications in the UK, you should apply to the Identity and Passport Service. For stays of longer than three months, contact the Embassy of the country to which you are travelling.

Would not get any hassle but suggest renewing your passports during the winter when service is much quicker- and as the information states time on your old passport will be added to the validity of the new one

Our passports were due to expire in March, so rather than wait, we renewed last month. We got them back within 10 days and the extra time was added on.   Moyra

With Elizajay we have had no problems whatsoever and they never batted an eyelid at ours!!!

but the other posters make a suggestion to renew during the winter months which is better than panicking nearer the time to get your passport renewed although like I said you wont't have any problems as it will still be valid for the duration of your visit.

I think that the Idea of having at least three months is in case of unseen problems like friends of ours who have a house on Corfu, the husband two days before returning home to the UK from a two weeks holiday had a massive heart attack and was transferred to mainland Greece..they were lucky that he was able to fly home before his and her passport ran out saving the wife the problem of sorting out their passports..they had only 5 weeks left after returning home before they ran out..that two week holiday turned into a two month stay in Greece.

My passport was due to expire in February, I sent off for new one last week and it arrived back yesterday, just 7 days that's great. Sent new photo's but didn't bother with countersigning. Just popped old passport, form and photos in envelope and sent 1st class post not special delivery. I am well chuffed at the speed, all set for lots more holidays now.
