It seems strange to me that it's mostly postcards that we have delayed, I guess when the sorting office is busy, perhaps they are pushed aside and forgotten.
I remember during my time as a postie, I was asked by the inspector to go to the cupboard where the extra bags, usually only used at Christmas, and get the bags out for the impending deluge. At the bottom of the cupboard where 6 bags of letters, obviously put there by lazy ones on the final shift, all first class, there were cards, letters and small packets, they were all delivered the next day, 11 and a half months late and the guilty ones weren't traced.

In 2011 I posted my cards to the UK between 22nd November and 28th November - at the time of writing this posting only 5 have arrived!!! In 2010 I mailed nearly all of my Christmas Cards to the UK on 28th/29th November, most of them arrived there between 19th and 23rd January 2011. 10 people share our post box here in Greece and over the past two weeks just two items have been put in it. Between us we are awaiting Christmas Cards AND Birthday cards. The users of the post box are Dutch, English, Finnish and German, so I think the problem must be within Greece.

Well I sent my cards all over the world, but mainly to UK, on December 7th and certainly from the feedback- and return cards from them, most arrived very quickly in UK- not sure about New Zealand etc but got an email from Australia which I am pretty sure meant my card had arrived!

I used to post hatching eggs to Greece regularly (over the past 7 years) and the longest a box ever took was 5 days, though most got there (mainland) in 4 and some even took 3 days.
Never had a single one broke either!!

I have to say that this Christmas has been the best ever for receiving cards and gifts from the UK. Most unexpected but very welcome!
I don't know whether it's to do with the Greek postal service or if, just maybe, we've finally educated our family and friends into thinking ahead and POSTING EARLY!!

Heavens, here in the Dodecanese our post to UK takes at least 2 to 3 weeks to get to there, even posting "Express" its at least 10 days. From UK to here it is between 10 days and 4 weeks to reach our post box - honest!! And we only ever receive around 98% of our post, some things have gone to the great Greek post office in the sky never to be seen again. But as stated, its not just cards from UK not arrived, but from Holland, Finland and Germany, so it is obviously a problem in Greece. Now I tend to email, fax or telephone, no faith in the postal service.

I sent my Christmas cards to the UK and Europe near the beginning of December and most arrived as far as I can discern within about 4/5 days. As this is my first Christmas in Corfu I was still hoping to receive about as many as I usually do in UK but I was disappointed that only about a quarter had arrived in time for Christmas. I have received a few more today and can only see a postmark on one sent December 16th so yes, I think we need to encourage people to post early for Christmas if we are to get them in time here.

Maria, after 10 years here our friends and family have finally realised that if they don't post gifts and cards by 30th November (in the UK anyway) there is a chance that we won't get them in time.
If post doesn't arrive in time for Christmas it's as disappointing for them as it is for us.
The first Christmas we were here, we were still getting cards in February and March so things have improved slightly!!
