An Easyjet aircraft has been spending most of today doing approaches to Newquay Airport. Currently only Flybe run scheduled flights from Newquay and Cornwall Council have been actively looking for a new airline to use Newquay .
Would be great if Easyjet came here and included Corfu as destination

Great but unlikely I fear as most Cornish residents are too busy working in ther summer season to think of taking a holiday! Suspect they just paid to practise 'touch and go' as some airlines have done in Corfu in winter for ages.

I worked at Blackpool airport for many years and as Janmanessi said they actually use quietish airports like Blackpool and Newquay for touch and goes, and it brings in revenue for them.

I've learnt something new again on this Site. This time it's "touch and goes". I'm not exactly sure what they are but I've got a pretty good idea (I think!).
Two points about Kernowman's original post - I hope he's right! Second I don't think he was looking for Corfiots to decamp to Cornwall for their holidays Jan but instead to provide a more convenient choice for people from the far South West of England to be able to fly to Corfu.
On the other hand Cornwall has more than it's share of attractions for the perfect holiday!!

David- that's what I said! I only know of one Corfiot who might be tempted to decamp to Cornwall, but I was talking about the Cornish who work hard for their own summer season and tend to seek winter sun as no time for summer holidays!

Be interesting to get statistics Jules2 and see- but many of those working in, for instance, hospitals, are probably encouraged to take holidays out of season as the influx of visitors to Cornwall means that there is a huge strain on public sector/health etc. That's what I mean about the majority probably being connected in one way or another- even dustbin collections must be affected by the temporary population increase. Farmers too often offer B and B to visitors, even though their core business may not be tourism.
