Yes but the hooker paid her 100 debt to the hotel and the German took the 100 note back, so... as I see it he is still owed the money from the hooker.

At the beginning of the day the hotel owner owed 100 euros to the butcher ... at the end of the day he did not so he has 'gained' a 100 euros.

And of course the whole crux of the story is that the money was 'borrowed' from a rich German to start with, and ended up going back to him... although without any interest being paid!!! Now, THATS what's needed!
