Hi, decided to have a change next year, now booked for the end of June for Corfu, just wondering what the sea temperatures are usually like at this time of year. We have been going in September for years and the sea has always been nice and warm. Thanks lorac.

We were swimming in the sea here in May this year and it wasn't a problem. Depends on whether you like your water bath temperature, or not. I would classify it as a cold shower but not so you had to brace yourself.. but, then we are hardy types in our family and also swim in the UK seas which even in Mid summer are much colder than here...

Lorac -it does depend upon which side of the Island you are on, to some extend. The east coast (which is shallower and more sheltered that the west will always be a bit warmer and usually warms up more quickly. It's usually fine by the end of May on the east coast, and really nice by the end of June.

I was lucky enough to be in Corfu this summer for two weeks at the beginning of May and then I was there for the whole of June. In June the sea was warm right from the beginning of the month. Mind you, I was there in early April, too, and I swam then as well!

It is all horses for courses really. I absolutely refuse to even dip my toe into the sea until June whereas my son happily swam on Boxing Day! I like my comforts whereas my son is far more adventurous. MartynG is quite right when he says that the waters of the east coast warm up much more quickly than the west coast. Quite a lot of my friends here have been swimming in the sea until quite recently although we have had a cold snap this week so maybe that will be the swimming season over for most of us! It also will depend on the Spring warmth next year. Spring was quite late this year.

We have been a couple of times at the beginning of June. Once the sea was cold in the east but warm in the north and west, other time the sea was warm everywhere. Think it depends on the currents a lot. Kalami was warm on both occasions.
To be honest I think you will be fine at the end of June

Being in the sea will be no problem - it is getting in that is more difficult. I think that the air/sea temperature difference is a big issue and that can mean that the change in body temperature in June can be less than in July, making June actually less of a shock for going in the water.
I was not the only person in the sea today ...

Went to Glyfada and Pelekas a few days ago and there were quite a few people swimming in the sea and sunbathing on the beach! Very good for late November.

By June sea should be around 20-22, much cooler than the 8+ in September. Fine once in but not so easy to get in. If you grin and bear it you will adjust within a few days. Watch out if there is a windy day as sea can drop a few degrees but will bouce back again pretty quick.
