Lesk, I bought some stuff called "Compleat" by Melitta which I think is German. I can't remember where I got it but it would be either Sconto, Dimitra or Alpha Vita. It is revolting! When my fridge started to die in the summer heat I used Longlife milk which was vastly preferable!

My indulgence for Christmas is a large box of rose and violet creams which I have ordered from Gorvett and Stone, chocolatiers in Henley-on-Thames. Whether they get here in time is another matter...

I can remember Christmas in Corfu without sausagemeat, crackers, mincemeat, suet, Brussel sprouts, cream, the only chocolates were really the round ones called "Mona Lisa" and Christmas Day was rather like any other Saint's Day. We have certainly come a long way since then and good luck to the Ionian Hypermarket is all I can say.   The one thing I really miss from the old days is the demise of the symbol of Corfu, the model boats, which were lit up everywhere, in shop windows, village squares etc. before Christmas trees took over. There used to be one on the road up to Viros and another in Sinarades but I think those have gone too?

I have sent a letter of complaint to the owners of this website this morning about the long delays in delivery and distribution and the fact that we have paid in advance and not received all the goods we ordered.

I've just got the second part of my order and am delighted with the service. Okay, they have had some teething problems, but it's not easy when you rely on others to deliver on time. I'm sure they will get better and learn from experience.

It's not the waiting so much as the fact that all the goods are not arriving with each order. Where are they?

It would be horrible if people have ordered stuff for their kiddies for Christmas and it doesn't get here on time on the second or third order...

Stocks run out, even in UK. You have to accept these things, as Susanna says a lot of the delay seems to have been caused by things beyond their control.

Pleased to say most of my first two orders have now arrived safely this afternoon. Only one more to go before Christmas and New Year. Thanks

A friend put in an order with the Ionian Supermarket and I added some items to it. The last date for orders to arrive here in time for Christmas was brought forward to the 27th November. Our order was duly accepted before this date but so far some of it has still not arrived. Some of the items that did arrive were not the products ordered.

Luckily for me none of the items I ordered were for Christmas. My friend ordered Christmas puddings and mince pies among other things. They are still not here. If these are not here by Christmas, they're not worth having!

They shouldn't offer a service that they cannot provide.

You are right in one sense, Trisa, but I can assure you, from years of experience, that it is really difficult to predict when carriers are going to strike, when ports will be closed, when drivers who PROMISE to deliver just don't. I think, if there was a mistake, it was that they tried to accommodate too many people's last minute requests and just didn't allow a large enough margin for error. Easily done when you are trying to please everyone.

Of course Susanna but surely, when they offer a door to door service, a month should be plenty of time to deliver for Christmas.

Well, I certainly didn't get my Amazon/ebay orders sorted out in time. Things are still arriving, and the family have left! These are gifts ordered well in time for Christmas.
