Easyjet has apparently cancelled both Wednesday and Thursday flights to and from Corfu, yet the computer will not allow changes onto tomorrow's flight, saying it is full- yet if you try to book it you can- at a price!

If the Greek government cannot take the population with it in its attempt to solve the terrible financial crisis it is experiencing at this time, it is difficult to forecast what the future will hold....for everyone.

Just read on Twitter that the air traffic control strike has been confirmed on the Living in Greece site.
Dogbones, people are saying that Greek democracy is coming apart at the seams. How can this be democracy if the electorate who voted the government in, won't back them in trying to get the country out of the terrible state it is in?
As you say, no one knows what the future holds here. At the moment the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train or would be if they weren't on strike!
Trisa.

We have just been informed our flights for tomorrow will not be leaving and will probably be leaving on Thursday instead, always assuming ATC do not decide to strike on Thursday as well at the last minute
Hey ho worst that can happen is we get five days holiday instead of 7!!
So the strike is on for tomorrow but Thursday is uncertain

EJ had informed us no flights Wednesday or Thursday so we are booked on the Friday morning flight.
It is, as far as we know, a 48hr strike and has been confirmed as such.

Since the recent loss of BBC via satellite recently, I have sometimes watched Euronews as well as Sky and BBC via the web, and as it's name suggests, it can offer more info on 'local' issues that UK channels dont cover, eg, In Spain a strike by a small town's police officers, who havent been paid for months, felt forced to take their complaints to the Government Dept concerned in Seville only to to be met by Seville Police barring their way. Today, there are strikes in Portugal about Austerity measures and similar stories from other countries are also reported. All stories are linked to the financial crisis prevailing at the moment and it is affecting many, if not all, countries both in Europe and beyond. Greece has been the whipping boy taking the pressure off a lot of other countries, up till now and it is too easy to get flippant with the Greek strikes. There is no doubt that Greece is to blame for its own ails...but that does not mean that the strikes are not justified, it is the ordinary person who is being 'screwed' for every last penny of tax. And not just in Greece. Nobody likes strikes and lost wages are never recovered but sometimes it is all that is left.

Some flights are being re scheduled for about 6.30pm UK time so that is probably where we will end up with Thomsons. We will virtually lose 2 days holidays but hey, we are covered for curtailment by insurance!!!

Does anyone know how long they are going to be having these strikes for? Is it just through October or will it carry on month to month? We are going to Athens in November for a wedding and wondering if we will be affected?
