I loved Alykanas but I went to Old Alikanas, not new Alykanas, I am sure you cannot book the old village any more since Direct Greece disappeared

The old village is much further round the coast and while right on the sea, you are surrounded by olive groves and market gardens

We used to walk into Alykanas some evenings for dinner, about a 30 minute walk, and the price and quality of food and service to very good

If you hire a car do explore a bit

There is a beautiful large white sand beach even further round the coast, it is unsignposted - the locals like to keep it a secret, just hug the coast where you can and wander through olive groves and you will find it, it has no name that I am aware of

In many ways Zakinthos is almost like driving round English Country with olives instead of apple orchards LOL

The famous blue caves are a bit of a rip off. If you can get instead to Keri there is a small boat which will take you to the caves there at a fraction of the coast, equally blue but not crowded. We swam there and I swam with a grey seal - a real experience

Enjoy, I am sure you will

Stayed in Alykanas a couple of times and loved it. We stayed in a quiet spot and used to walk down a lane and through the olive groves to the beach. It was magical. This was about 6-7 years ago so don't know what it is like now.
