I long for a solar powered fountain but the cost of shipping one from the uk is prohibitive.    Surely on this island of sun there must be somewhere which sells them?   I know that three years ago solar garden lights were expensive, but this year their prices have crashed.   Has anyone seen any solar powered fountains for sale anywhere on Corfu because I just love the sound of running water.   All my hot water is powered by the sun at this time of year, so why not a fountain?

Could someone not bring you one out Lavinia, they weigh very little and even excess baggage would be worth it

Well, seemingly SusieH, they weigh quite a lot.   If the fountain costs 150GBP, the p and p seems to be about 200GBP.   I don't understand why though.   I would have thought anything solar powered here would be a best seller.   Maybe a business idea for someone?   I am nearly past my sell-by date and can't be bothered.

Amazon list 142 solar fountains from under £20 and they deliver to Greece.

Many thanks to you both.   It always looks good to begin with but the crunch comes with delivery cost.   However, I shall, yet again, check out Amazon.   There may be free delivery within the UK but to Greece it is quite expensive. And many companies refuse to deliver to a P.O.Box number (which most of us here have).   The Greek postal service is completely different to the UK.   Sometimes your paid for item is sent by a courier but unless the dispatcher gives you full details your package may disappear into the ether.   There are over a hundred courier services on Corfu so it is extremely difficult to find a missing package.   The dispatcher really has to understand that your phone number should be marked very clearly on the outside of the package otherwise you have little hope of taking delivery.   But thanks anyway!

I have checked - as long as you buy the product from Amazon rather than one of their associate companies the delivery is free. I have used them many times and the Amazon service is amazingly good...
Can't guarantee the local delivery service however - things have gone missing - but again Amazon have always replaced without question or charge

Thanks, John, obviously being a bit thick!

I am a huge Amazon fan having discovered that they do indeed deliver free to Greece. I suppose I should be ashamed at shopping outside Greece, but on the other hand my husbands pension has shrunk so much that we don't have much choice. Even large, heavy items come completely free to the Post Office or local courier.

I wasn't actually being thick at all.   I tried to order this on Amazon but they would not accept my order so I sent them an email.

I have just had a reply to say that they are unable to send a solar fountain to Greece.

Boo
